Good food, poor service

On a night that really didn't seem that busy at all, the two of us waited over an hour for food (mains only. No effort was made to keep us informed as to when our meal would ever come and when it did eventually arrive, it was tasty but average. I really couldn't understand the delay. The kitchen... read more

Wonderful service and a lovely meal. We had already been before on a sunday to the carvery which was really hot and the meat was melt in the mouth tender, so we knew it would be good! Plan to go again soon on a Sunday to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday.

Excellent food and great prices. Set in a lovely location. We sat outside overlooking the country and horses, was beautiful. Great staff.

A rather odd visit. Greeted nicely, seated and given menus and told the specials board would be brought over, but it wasn't. Someone else (possibly the manager) took our drinks order, so we asked him for the specials board - someone else brought it over and this was highly amusing because it was so enormous she could barely carry it,... I have eaten in this restaurant many times and always enjoy the lunch menu. Today the chef surpassed himself. I chose fresh fillet of haddock which was rolled with spinach and shallots and gently cooked in a delicious sauce. The flavours were delicious and the fish was so moist and tasty that I think of all the fish dishes I... More

Visited on a Wednesday for my birthday, what can I say it was a beautiful meal. It was not overly busy but the service is second to none. The quality of the food excellent. It is not a cheap restaurant but it is well worth it.

Polite greeting on arrival. Both girls that served us were great, made eye contact and seemed very genuine. The (head) chef was manning the carvery and took real pride in the food that he was dishing up and how it was cooked. The locally sourced meat was really good and tasty. The beef was pink and perfect and the pork... More

Have been to this restaurant a few times now and the experiences have been great every time. Staff are helpful, food fantastic and getting to watch the horses as well tops it off. Highly recommend the stake

First visit to the Kings whilst visiting the Southampton area. Initial impressions not very good as access to the building is rather odd trough what appears to be their reception area. Once inside the bar area looked nice, two members of staff were stood behind the bar as we entered but chose not to greet us. We made our own... More

Booked a table for 2 for Sunday carvery. Rare beef, pork, chicken and lamb on offer with stuffing, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, brocolli, mashed swede. They were nice enough to bring us to the table a portion of cauliflower as my sister did not like cauliflower cheese. Completely stuffed and satisfied after and will definitely visit again.
