Fight on the riverfront is Cafe Tortuga, a favorite foreigner hangout. This small cafe's charm comes from its attentive staff and simple, good food, including sweet and savory crepes, large sandwiches, soups, avocado stuffed with chicken or cheese, and beef chili. Many come for its yummy and filling breakfasts (served from 7 a.M.), While others come to cool off with an iced coffee, fresh fruit juice or homemade iced tea. There's free WiFi and a book exchange too. Monday-Saturday 7 a.M..-7 P.M., Sunday 7 a.M.-1 P.M.

We found this place with Lonely Planet's recommendation. We enjoyed a delightful breakfast in the rain. The Wi-Fi worked very well, the coffee was pretty good, and the diversity of interesting breakfast options was a welcome relief from the every day omelette you get in most places in Ecuador. The service was good and the place had nice vibes. It's... More

It has a great location with a nice view. Srvice was very good, with friendly and kind people. Food was Ok and fresh, though more options could be better.

This is the cutest restaurant in all of Tena with scrumptious breakfast options! The food is fresh & the staff is friendly! Be sure to sign the guest book! I recommend the fruit salad, any juices or an omelet!

I have had many breakfasts at Café Tortuga. It is a bit pricier than the Ecuadorian restaurants, but it offers a much larger breakfast menu and the food is always fresh. I would definitely recommend the chocolate cake if they have it! It's the only place I have found real chocolate cake (like American/European chocolate cake) in Tena. And it's... More

A bit pricier than normal food options in Ecuador, but well worth it. The juices and pancakes are very delicious, as well as the burgers. Located conveniently across the newly constructed bridge/mirador.

Cafe Tortuga is a sweet little internet cafe with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. It is located on the malecón near el mirador and has a great atmosphere and pleasant view throughout the day. When I went there I got pancakes and yucca fries and they were both delicious! They have great coffee and they even sell some of Kallari´s... More

Slow service, but worth the wait given other options in Tena. Beautiful views of Tena river, and check out the little store of local produce and lovely shirts right near there.

Decided to go to Cafe Tortuga as our first stop in Tena based on other reviews. We found the food to be very mediocre. I had the avocado salad, basically a bed of lettuce, with avocado and a not very good tomato. It could have been much improved with some kind of flavour such as a salad dressing. My husband... More

Breakfast here was a real treat. The menu is varied and substantial - great right before an exhilarating rafting trip.
