Hearty Tuscan Family Food

You won't leave L'Upupa hungry. It delivers good honest Tuscan fare, well cooked with excellent local ingredients, in full accordance with its image. The house wines are very acceptable and excellent value. Having dined there on a Sunday night it was clear that this is where the locals go to... read more

We were lucky to get a table here as we didn't book. We soon learnt that you need to book in San miniato! The staff were very accommodating considering and got us a table immediately. We tried the White truffle risotto at 30 euros, which we later realised was quite pricey for the local area and we felt the flavours... More

We (my family including two children age 3 and 4) had lunch and dinner in this beautiful small restaurant 4 (!) times this week. We could eat here all year long. The service is so kind and the dinner is so great. We cannot pick one thing, because everything was delicious. So this is really a MUST GO in San... More

Tuscan food tasty, table outdoor in an Ancient Street. Service quick without rushing (even if our seats were booked). Two adults and two children, which means one (big) starter, one first dish, three seconds, wine, beer and water=77€.

We had a very nice meal with nice pastas with creamy and non creamy sauce. Truffles were fresh and savoury. Meat dishes did not disappoint either and the service was perfect. They even offered us some extra wine. Would definitely return.

I'd eaten here last time in San Miniato so looked forward to returning but sort of regret having done so and wished we'd tried a different restaurant. The food just wasn't that great and I'm not a fan of tartuffo and this place is all about the truffles--the smell hung in the air cloyingly. We got talked into the chef's... More

This is a tiny little osteria, with excellent food, very earthy and local. They specialise in cooking with local truffles; you need to go in the autumn to have white truffles; we went in May, when only black is available, but still it was still great. The main menu is very red meat orientated, liver pate, wild boar etc, though... More

small restaurant run by owner and family, about 10 tables, hence reservation is a necissity, excellent florentine steaks, nice house wine, menue in Italian, English and German, value for money, one of best "fiorentina" ever had.

We had a meal on the last day, and which was the best we had. It is a local Tuscan 'trattoria' run by Roberto with such passion! After the excellent meal, he offered us the traditional Vino Santo, and the local 'crustini' after the meal. Also a liqueur to round off the meal. I would recommend a meal there, anytime.
