In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened on the upper east side of New York City. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a "new" cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Rosa Mexicano's menu features a range of award-winning signature dishes, including our Guacamole en Molcajete, in a traditional lava rock mortar. Described by Time Out New York as "green ecstasy in a stone bowl," it is prepared table side and served with house made chips, warm corn tortillas and condiment salsas. Rosa Mexicano is also known for the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, as well as the stylish and festive ambiance that includes an illuminated water wall.

Tasty Mexican

The table side Guac was excellent! I had pineapple aqua fresca which was delicious. Portions were just right and everyone enjoyed their entree. I especially recommend the Chile poblano relleno for a vegetarian option.

Resturant is very pricey for small portions. You will pay top dollar and leave hungry. I wouldn't choose this place again, totally not worth it.

My daughter and I ate at this restaurant while attending a cheerleading competition. We enjoyed the guacamole, nachos and everything we ordered. We were seated quickly, despite the crowd and the service was good. Happy hour margarita's were $6, however that price is only for the bar and not at a table($11.00). I would definitely recommend eating here and sitting... More

Our group of about 6 people had sangria and dinner here on our first night in town. The restaurant was very busy the whole time we were there, and although there was a wait to get a table, they managed the crowd really well. My fish tacos were very good, and I love their tableside guacamole. That alone is probably... More

His review: Upscale location and wonderful and creative food, not your average Mexican restaurant. If we lived in the Washington DC area, we would go back again. Her review: This is an outstanding Mexican restaurant. Nothing ordinary about it. Food is outstanding. If we lived in the Washington DC area, we would be regular customers.

Guacamole is out of this world! However make your reservation well in advance. We did not and it was a 90 min wait on a Saturday night so we sat at the bar. My husband ordered a cuervo and oj. He was served a Crown Royal/oj. He returned the drink and the bartender said he didn't hear him. He then... More

Guacamole, need I say more??? It's freshly made at the table with just the right amount of heat. Delicious! I had the Shrimp tacos- Huge portion, delicious! The family style rice & beans were great. It was too early for me for a Margarita, but definitely next time...

The service was the best that we had while visiting DC. The guacamole was awesome and it was prepared right in front of us. The place is a little pricey for a family though.

We love a meal (or two) at Rosa Mexicana when we are in National Harbor and dinner there Thursday night was delicious as always. Depending on conference/visitor volume in the Harbor, there can be a consderable wait time especially for a large group. I would highly recommend reservations, no matter the size of your party. The guacamole is made fresh,... More
