This restaurant is perfect for lunch when you are visiting Smithville. The atmosphere is very authentic and rustic, complete with brick flooring. We had a very attentive and friendly server and our food was prepared at a good pace. Vegetable barley and French onion soups were delicious as were the sandwiches and wraps. We arrived just after it opened for... More

Casual restaurant in the old village of Smithville. Priced reasonably, good pub grub offerings. Go with the basics here. Bar area is fun, very competent bar staff and servers. Occasional entertainment, outdoor seating.

While on a vacation in Historic Smithville, we saw this place in the center of all the shops. We expected it to be your normal over priced tourist trap with so-so food. We drove all around the area and took note of all the other restaurants, but decided to eat close to our hotel. Boy were we shocked when we... More

Went to Smithville for the first time and had a quick bite in Fred & Ethel's (love the name). We sat in the bar area as opposed to the dining room. My boyfriend had his beloved Guiness and then asked the bartender if he could recommend another beer to try. He gave him his (the bartender's) favorite, Blue Point Lager,... More

On a recent visit to Smithville, my husband and I stopped to have lunch at Fred & Ethel's. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very friendly. We ordered the half-wrap/soup combo. Our food was brought out quickly - the soup was hot and very tasty. The chicken wraps were well "stuffed" and very good. We were very pleased... More

Our group (3 middle aged couples) stopped in for lunch while visiting Smithville.. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside on the patio. The service was fast and friendly. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the “Brooklyn Burger,” a hamburger with roast beef, cheese and grilled onions. It was very very good. Two of our party had... More

Somehow I expected this restaurant to have better food after reading some of the reviews. We ate there for dinner a few nights ago while staying at Smithville Village after the recommendation of one the people who works at Village. The food and atmosphere weren't bad; I just thought it would be better. Perhaps we hit an off night or... More

Went for lunch with a friend and we both had burgers. They were grilled perfectly. The cheese melted with the bacon and the meat done just as ordered. Fries crispy and also still hot. Service was excellent and the restaurant was clean. I had eaten here several years ago and wasn't pleased. Now, I have plans to return with my... More

Had the Salmon...excellent! Wait staff very friendly. Interesting atmosphere. The only complaint was that it was a busy evening and the noise level was difficult to communicate in...but definitely will be back
