Good Food!!!

After walking around Historic Smithville's cute little shops, we decided to stop at Fred & Ethel's tavern for lunch. We sat at the bar since wait time was a bit longer then we wanted to wait. Pretty boring interior and quite average food. I do like salt and often have to add it into restaurant food. However, my dinner was so salty that I hoped I could get it out somehow. My girlfriend found her dinner just OK too - so no thrills from the food for either of us. Our waiter however was very nice... More

Bartenders were very friendly. Drinks and food were good. Nice stop for refreshments after walking around Historic Smithville.

Small children, retirees, you name it, the busy servers at Fred & Ethel's brought them just what they wanted. We had a California burger with avocado and bacon and fries, and the crab melt sandwich with Swiss cheese. All very good, but messy--bacon hanging out, avocados slipping out (big chunky pieces), I finally resorted to a knife and fork, happy... More

Nice place to eat. Food was good. Nice menu selection. Competitive prices. They have live entertainment on weekends. Wait staff and bartenders are top notch. I would eat there again.

Atmosphere is kind of dark at night with little lighting. The restaurant has decent American fare at a reasonable price;specials offer even better prices with a complete meal. Service was acceptable. Restaurant is in Smithville, an area of small boutique shops and restaurants located in old buildings that past owners brought in and restored, placing them on new foundations. Smithville... More

My friend & I had a Girls' Weekend in Smithville and after a long, HOT day of shopping, we headed out for dinner. During the day we stopped in at the Inn and looked at their menu, but we wanted something more casual. (As an aside, you can eat in the Pub that's attached to the Inn and get the... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. It's a simple place that is comfortable, reasonable, terrific food and great service. Our server, Carly was so sweet. She was chipper, smiling, helpful and very accommodating. Their salad was fresh, crisp, fully loaded and the dressing was delicious ( we had creamy carsar). The burgers were off the hook good. The taste of the... More

Needed to get out of the hotel room and was pleasantly surprised upon arriving in Smithville to stumble upon this place. I had the crab bisque/soup (I don't remember which it was called) and the California burger (which isn't the Cali burger you'd typically think of) and they were both delicious! Fair warning though, watch your head when you stand... More
