We had heard so much about this place that we eventually got round to paying it a visit and was certainly worth the wait. The place itself is a traditional coaching inn bursting with character and impressed upon all of us on entering the place. It is always quite busy so would suggest booking in advance. The staff were all... More

First visit to this excellent carvery/restaurant. Even mid-week it is very popular which talks to the quality of the carvery presented. Service good and range of food and drinks very good.

We went to Mr&.Mrs Johnson's wedding reception at the South Causey on Monday 17th August,we had a very good room, large enough for us.The staff were very attentitive, always asking if we wanted more of anything/everything.the whole event went with ease,if there is a fault ? its maybe a little to much on the plates,if in fact it is a fault.we have... After many years of visiting this place for food and drinks we attended on Wednesday 5th August for a friends birthday meal and it was busy but nothing out of oridinary as I know its popular. We waited 45 minutes before we were offered a drink with some of our party going to the bar themselves rather than waiting. Once... More

Went out for Sunday lunch not knowing where to go.... Hubbys parents recently told us about a visit here for a bar meal so we thought wed give it a go.... Whilst we got seated surprisingly quickly (it was very busy) we did wait quite some time for our drinks and over 1/2 hr later we received our meals.... The... More

Well what a fantastic couple of days we spent here. The staff were lovely. Accommodated our needs and kept the tea, coffee and water coming all day. The 2 course lunch was beautiful not one person didn't enjoy their meal or the large portions.we also got huge scones in the afternoon with clotted cream and jam. Can highly recommend the... More

This restaurant can be very mixed in the quality of food received. We visited the other day and I left over half my food, the salad was full of limp lettuce, the chips underwhelming and greasy and the lasagne itself very disappointing, covered in a thick layer of cheese again making it greasy. The service was none existent, long queues... More
