We were taken here by friends from the area, us being from the west side if the country! The setting is beautiful, we visited the horses, goats, bunnies, hens and cockerels, not forgetting the donkeys before entering the restaurant. The ambience was brilliant, the food sublime Nd the portions enormous. Everything was beautifully presented and the serving staff were unobtrusive... More

We booked here with a mixed party of adults, children and toddlers on a Sunday so were in for the carvery. You couldn't fault the staff, who were friendly, helpful and attentive, but there was clearly a lack of management direction, as they were bumping in to each other and all seemed to be trying to do the same tasks... The food here is great, really wholesome and hearty portions too. The building is lovely, it's really well presented and has a separate dining area where you can dine with dogs - great for us! It's fairly large but if you're planning a visit on a Sunday afternoon then I'd book a table as it can get really busy as... More

The menu choice was very good, all meals cooked as you prefer. The steaks to perfection. Have a good appetite as they are plentiful.

Called in for Sunday lunch. Huge portions but the beef was too well done and all the veg underdone the roasties actually raw in the centre. Would have scored higher but a waiter dropped a tray of food over me and didn't even apologise. The grounds are beautiful and more than made up for the lunch.

I had been here before years ago and thought it was overpriced and pretentious. However... My recent visit proved me wrong. Really nice decor, nice friendly and attentive staff. Few things that stood out. Firstly one of our party had battered cod which comes in regular or large. They ordered regular and what came was a whale of a fish!... More

A great choice of what turned out to be excellent food, efficiently served, Portions were more than generous. The breakfast had a range of just about anything you might want, including fresh strawberries.

Waited 45 mins for a bowl of soup. Corned beef pie was burnt. Overpriced rubbish. Had been recommended to us but will never go again. Daughter with us said last time they were here service was very slow as well
