A great pub meal after a busy day

Called in at the Royal Oak after a long day needing some rest and good food. Four of us spent a great evening here. The pub itself is very cosy with traditional style decor and a lovely open fire. There is a good selection of beers and wine and the menu offers good, home cooked food. All our meals were delicious and the beer (Copper Dragon) went down a treat. The visit was topped off by... Stopped in last week for lunch with my wife and 6 year old daughter. Wow. I loved it. Decor, ambience, history, log fire, fine ale, good food, dog friendly, welcoming host and locals. Possibly the best pub in the world. I will return some day, I just wish It was in my village...

I went here to take refuge after dropping daughter off at Flamingo Land! Had already eaten in Malton so was just after a crafty ale. Beer was excellent and staff friendly & welcoming. Will certainly revisit if I can get someone else to drive!

Very average meal for all the build up this pub has, the portions aren't anything to write home about and the lager is foul. We were shocked at the price of the tab as only one out of 3 adults had had alchohol. Decidedly normal food charged at an expensive rate & only worth the 'atmosphere' if you can get... More

Having visited the Eden Camp, we decided to eat locally. TA reviews indicated that the Royal Oak was a proper British pub, so we decided to give it a go. First impressions were good. Nice traditional décor and mine hosts were very friendly. I could even forgive the gents being outside at the back, however the food was awful. I... More

Found this pub via Trip Advisor with my family on our way home from Flamingo Land. Super atmosphere and food. Only shame, it's not my local wish it was.

A rather pleasant pub that serves great food at a very reasonable price. My steak with pepper sauce was perfectly cooked, with really nice hand made chips, best steak I've had in a while. The vege lasagne looked nice and got the thumbs up from my wife, so it must have been good. The scampi also got a good review... More

Called for a drink on Easter Sunday as rest of Malton was closed. Walked in, got stared at by every customer. Went to bar. No one serving. Walked back out again.
