Boat Bistro & Bar. There are few places in the Cairngorm National park where food, wine and location come together as beautifully as The Boat Bistro, we showcase rustic and seasonal fare and re-imagined classics, featuring vegetables, fruits and herbs grown locally combined with produce sourced from the British Isles. Poached, squeezed, pressed, steamed, grilled, wilted, roasted, battered and seared. Our utterly delicious food, from first thing in the morning to last thing at night, will melt on your tongue and always leave you wanting more. Our menus comprise contemporary interpretations of classic British dishes. Our Lunch and Dinner menus also feature daily Best of British specials. It almost goes without saying that we use fresh, local, seasonal produce as the norm.Breakfast offers you a range of cold dishes and freshly baked pastries from the larder. As well as a fully cooked Scottish breakfast, you can order anything from delicate smoked Scottish Haddock to meltingly beautiful Eggs Florentine. If there’s anything else you’d like to eat, just ask. We’re not too posh or proud to make boiled egg and soldier. The Osprey Bar is warm and welcoming, the perfect place to meet, the bar is full of quiet corners. Tuck yourself away with a paper. Enjoy a quiet romantic moment. The Boat Bistro & Bar, you'll find:Best of British specials every day.Breakfast, lunch and dinner, contemporary interpretations of traditional dishes using fresh local produce. Extensive malt whisky selection. Early Bird Dining. We welcome everyone to experience the Bistro & Bar, including guests not staying at the hotel.

Good food presented well - Market Menu offers good value and choice - 3 courses for £25. A la carte has some nice sounding options showcasing Scottish produce.

Avoid eating here. Food was terrible and the waiting staff have not received the training necessary to provide a basic service. The "three times cooked" chips were soggy, insipid and bland. The teeny weeny pot of "Red apple slaw" was a disappointing portion (not enough for even a toddler) of red cabbage and mayonnaise without a hint of apple. The... More

Popped in for a quick lunch as we were driving North and knew Aviemore would be very busy on Good Friday, and its only 5mins off the road. Was lacking a bit of character when we arrived - only another 2 people in bistro; but staff very friendly and attentive, and food was lovely. If you want to get out... More

We dined here while staying at the hotel as part of a DBB deal - food was tasty (cullen skink delicious), staff friendly. breakfast was also nice - a lot of bones in the kippers but the full breakfast on our 2nd morning was nice. Shame about the rest of our experience at the hotel (see my hotel review).

Not very organised, staff don't speak very good English, food was lovely, but the service could have been a lot better, not very attentive, had to ask to order drinks 15 minutes after we arrived and no check back during our meal. We wouldn't visit again.

The dining room was a bit odd and in need of a bit of thought but the service was excellent and the food mixed. I had the Cullen skink then the lamb both of which were lovely. Two other main courses arrived cold which was unfortunate. Don't let this review stop you going though as the restaurant is trying and... More

I rarely write a bad review but after a very disappointing meal I feel that it is important to give honest feedback. We visited the Boat Bistro last week for dinner. I ordered the pumpkin risotto £11.95 and my partner the beer battered fish £12.95 from the main menu (although it was a Tuesday night we were not offered the... More

An amazing lunch today. The new chef is young and very passionate about his menu. There are a big range of well conceived dishes, many using traditional Highland ingredients but with a modern twist. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. This is an absolute must if you are visiting the Highlands. The service was also extremely good.

This lovely hotel bistro in Boat O; Garten is ideal for lunch. The big log fire and helpful staff both give you a warm welcome. It has an appetizing local style menu and the Soup, Steak Pie and Fish and Cips with Mushy Peas were well received. Nice location for a visit to the local Steam Train station and of... More
