Tasty. Convient to Arduaine Gardens

Potato leek soup, roast pork sandwich. Better than average. Service was slow, probably because they had a private party at the same time.

We were driving along the Argyll coastal route and dreaming of seafood, but not expecting much as there are not many restaurants or places to stop. We stopped here spontaneously to look at the view and were amazed to find a lovely restaurant with a seafood platter on the special's board and an amazing view. Food was gorgeous and we... More

Had lunch at Chartroom. Just visited the garden next door and stayed for lunch. We sat outside as we had a dog but the service was quick and friendly. Only had tea, shortbread and pizza but it was the best pizza I have eaten for along time. Plus the shortbread was homemade. Wish we had found Chartroom before the last... More

Very pleased to see a modern bistro and not a faded old hotel dining room as only food available for miles. The view is fantastic (so long as your chair faces towards the window! Anyone ever thought of putting a mirror along that back wall?). Crab salad very disappointing (as in the crab meat was ok - just two dollops... More

We ate at this Bistro three times and on each occasion the food and the service were excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient, with just the right amount of time between courses, so that we did not feel rushed but did not have to wait. All our meals were cooked to perfection and in addition to all this the... More

After eating dinner in the highly rated Hotel restaurant, and being sorely disappointed, we decided on the last night to eat in the Bistro attached to and belonging to the Hotel. We met another couple there who had had a similar experience to us and were looking for a decent meal to redeem their short break; the food was even... More

We visited the gardens at Arduiane on a beautiful August day and eat on the on the patio in front of the Melfort bistro. We were warned that the food may be a bit delayed as there were a number of covers in front of us but we were quite chilled and in no real hurry. The food was excellent... More

We called in for coffee and a scone after visiting Arduaine gardens. No scones so decided to have shortbread. Very small pre packed shortbread biscuit £2 - no chance that I'd buy that. Had the coffee (OK ish) and went to Oban for a better coffee and biscuit (twice the size, fresh made and only £1.80)

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Our coffee is from the Scottish firm Brodies, and we have never had a complaint about it before, so I am sorry you didn't find it to your taste. A number of customers have stated that they don't like our home made shortbread in the little bags in the Bistro, so... More

Far too expensive - we just wanted a couple of cups of tea and pieces of cake or biscuits. The day I pay £2 for a shortbread biscuit that looks like it came from Tesco is the day hell freezes over! We got there at 2.30 and there was very little food on offer. Definitely won't be going there again.

Thanks for spending the time to write review and we have taken note of your comments about our shortbread biscuits. We do make all our cakes and biscuits on site and you should get two home made biscuits in a little bag with the Loch Melfort logo on it. We thought they looked nice like that, you customers obviously disagree,... More
