Lovely lunch with spectacular views

The food here was excellent, although on the pricey side - what really makes this place is the fantastic picture windows and the view outside.

We popped in for lunch and sat outside. Eventually a waitress arrived and took orders from two other tables and looked straight at me waving a menu before going in. Eventually I found another waitress inside who took the order but didn't write it down. We had almost finished our meal before the chips arrived! Another couple had ordered soup... More

Thanks for writing a review and we are sorry you coincided with a very busy coach party lunch, which is fortunately a rare occasion in a remote location like ours. So our manager, rightly, was occupied with them. Sorry you didn't get the service we would normally expect to give you- I am afraid it is just down to bad... More

The Chartroom bistro has the most magnificent views! Spectacular in fact. However the lunch we had here was not up to par. Having eaten here many times before (granted not for the past 3 years) we were most excited to go to have scallops for lunch. Alas the menu was a soup and sandwich type affair with a few more... I called in here, along with several other bikers on a rideout from Oban, following a sign on the main road, which said 'Panoramic View' or something similar. We found ourselves in the car park of this hotel, and at first thought we'd made a wrong turn. However, on walking round the back, we were bowled over by the stunning... More

We were revisiting Argyll after a gap of 24 years..a nostalgic trip you might say. We wanted to visit the Arduaine gardens which we did and it was a most enjoyable experience. On the way back we stopped for a coffee in the Hotel's Chart Room. The coffee was good and the service excellent. We returned the following day for... More

Met up with a friend for lunch today and as we don't see each other very often were happy to come here as a treat (had planned to go to The Lord of the Isles as it was nearer home, but was told on arrival that they were not doing food today!) I've been here a few times now and... More

We have just returned from our meal at the chartroom. We booked and arrived early to be shown promptly to our table. The restaurant filled up quickly and it became immediately apparent that they were understaffed. Only 2 waiters were on duty. I asked what the scallops meuniere were but wasn't told that they came with cream, which I wouldn't... More

Sorry our chef was rushed into hospital that day which should have been explained to you by our waiting staff, so the one chef covering 60 covers just did the best he could. It was a phenomenally busy weekend, totally packed along the West Coast everywhere and we were literally turning away people looking for rooms and guests wanting to dine... The view of the Loch is beautiful. The food is well cooked but the menu a little limited with some meals being served either as starters or mains so reducing the number of actual choices. There was no fish choice on the menu apart from battered haddock or seafood e,g, no bass or salmon but it was great to see... More

We ate here with high expectations which were disappointed - I've already commented in my hotel review on my soup (sent back) and pizza (poor, bought-in base but filling). My companions didn't rate their seafood platter. For the location, and the prices charged, the food simply ought to be better. There isn't a great choice, but several things had run... More
