I visited this café at "tea time" on Tuesday 26/8/2014 and was appalled. I ordered a fish pattie & chips to eat inside. The assistant informed me food to be eaten in had to be freshly cooked (Implying take away food is NOT freshly cooked!) I waited 10 minutes and when my meal arrived the fish in the pattie was... Never been to Saltburn before so just took a chance on this fish and chip shop. What a disappointment. Grey fish, soggy batter and small crispy chips. We threw over half of them away. We were the only ones in there even though the town was packed, which should have been a warning..Maybe the fish and chips had been stood... More

The chips were bright white and the fish was horrible, watery and jelly like. The portions are much smaller and there is now a £1.50 charge per person to eat in. The staff are unfriendly and the food is disgusting.

I normally love the Clipper's chips but this evening they are awful. We visited at 7pm, the chips are a greyish brown colour, really rubbery and horrible. The potato on the fish pate is hard, and the sausage didn't taste normal. Just because it's late, doesn't mean you can't fry a fresh batch of chips. They must have been hours... More

I don't know if the price if cod has taken another hike in the past few weeks, but when I went in today my piece of fish today was about as big as a plankton. This is a shame, because to be fair, The Clipper's always been a good place to get a takeaway or have a sit-down. The place... More

I dont usually write reviews however, having been disappointed by other fish and chip shops in the area, i could not fault them from this place. Large Fish was a good size and cooked really well and i would recommend anyone to give this place a try you wont be disappointed!

The Saltburn Clipper is a clean fish and chip restaurant which is in the centre of town. The fish and chips are excellent, in particular the chips. The mushy peas were REAL CHIP SHOP mushy peas and not tinned. The member of staff who served me was excellent and the value for money was really good. Good portion sizes. On... More
