Regional food as it should be!

Having just arrived in Tiradentes, our first meal was at Estalagem do Sabor which was a bit complicated to find since most streets of the town have no signs with names or directons. We arrived late (15h), so it was very tranquil and we were promptly assisted, although people there are not really... read more

This restaurant was recommended by our pousada and we were glad to have visited. It is easy to find and has a lovely front garden which sets it apart from the other buildings in the street. Although we were quite late (14.30-15), we still could have lunch. We were recommended to have the 'Mane sem Jaleco' and so we did.... More

Good traditional Brazilian food. I particularly liked the "mané sem jaleco" dish, which is similar to mineira food. If you speak Portuguese, say hi to owner Marcilio, who is famous in town for frequently saying "vai nessa", a difficult expression to translate. He also owns the Vai Nessa store on the same street.

This restaurant is very simple, and we were not lucky to find it full and with only 1 waiter, he was very nice and let us know that it was going to take a while for the food, we decided to wait and it was quite good! Trully local food with fresh ingredients!

We walked past at 19.45 and no lights were showing but a lad was rushing in and opening up. So after a beer in a local bar we wandered back and were able on a Thursday night to dine alone. And it was a really good meal cooked by mother to order. The caipirinhas were excellent. My mane sem jaleko... More

Very traditional "Mineira" food. Beware the size of plates. Service is “fun” and cozy. However, when I was there it was not taking any creditcard. Very disappointing…

Typical Minas food! The Estalagem’s feijão tropeiro and frango ao molho pardo, just two of the dishes that are part of the menu, are wonderful. Try the “Mane sem Jaleco”! Although it's small and quite sinple, it has a vibrant atmosphere.

Caipirinha was perfect and "mane sem jaleco" (typical minas "mexidao", i. e., rice, beans, cale mixed up, with pork and banana) was heavenly. Pork was wonderfully cooked, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Friendly service and great coffee. Don't miss it!

Minas Gerais is my homestate, so I'm very used to the typical food. Here you can eat an authentic "comida mineira" - the food of Minas Gerais. Try the most famous dishes in the state based on beans and pork. Since the food is very rich, lunch is the best time to go. The best drink to go with it... More
