Delicious food and friendly staff !

We had an excellent value "Menu del dia" (served weekdays only) in this cozy wine bar style tapas restaurant. Beautifully presented salad, chorizo and bean soup, loin of pork, peppers and spicy potatoes, dessert, coffee and glass of wine for 12 euros! Their steaks and large prawns on the main... read more

My son & I stopped off at Los Alcazares on our way to the airport in search of lunch. After a bit of a search we saw El Chato & went in on the off chance. As has been mentioned it doesn't look much from the outside but I think this is maybe a Spanish thing, I've come across it... More

We come to El Chato quite often since this is one of our favorite restaurants here in the surroundings. This time we took 2 friends with us. As they are fillet steak experts and until now they haven't yet found a restaurant in the neighborhood which had met their expectations, we were very curious about their opinion about the steak... Haven't been here before and to be honest this restaurant wasn't our first choice but as "La Tropical" was closed today decided to go short distance to EL Chato. There was a board outside advertising Menu del Dia 12 euros (but no details) which was what we were looking for so in we four went. Inside was nice and bright... More

Tried this restaurant based on TripAdvisor reports and it didn't disappoint....... Came earlyish at 8:30 and the place was empty but we were made most welcome I tried the froie expecting a pate but it turned out to be the liver itself. I don't like liver but this was a revelation and delicious. The fillet steak was massive and tender.... More

We return to El Chato every year. Food always very high standard, wine always well recommended by staff and reasonably priced. Staff always extremely helpful and friendly despite the language barrier. Owner/manager very attentive and accommodating. We will return again this year!

Arrived at 8.30 on a Thursday evening. Initially we were the only diners but we were made to feel very welcome. Chose the 25 euros taster menu which was excellent. 3 large starters to share which were varied and tasty. If you haven't got a big appetite leave room for the rest of the meal. These were followed by a... More

Read reports on El Chato on tripadvisor so decided to try on my visit this time. Mainly steak on the menu, best fillet i have had in years. Nicely presented with a few vegetables and fries. Staff very friendly. Wine, house rioja, at €2.50 a glass, delicious. Owner extremely friendly. Will definitely be back on my next monthly visit. (Arrived... More

Having read a previous review about being the only diners on a Tuesday night in October, we ventured in with friends. It was just before 8 and there was 6 of us, the kitchen lights were off which was a bit worrying. However, at 8 the lights went on and it was show time. One of our friends and my... More

To be fair, we were there on a Tuesday night and not in high season; probably not the most popular night of the week for dining out. We dined alone. Yes, there was no-one else in the restaurant, which is why atmosphere has not been rated above average. The staff were extremely helpful and the food was really good and... More
