Tried this restaurant based on TripAdvisor reports and it didn't disappoint....... Came earlyish at 8:30 and the place was empty but we were made most welcome I tried the froie expecting a pate but it turned out to be the liver itself. I don't like liver but this was a revelation and delicious. The fillet steak was massive and tender.... More

We return to El Chato every year. Food always very high standard, wine always well recommended by staff and reasonably priced. Staff always extremely helpful and friendly despite the language barrier. Owner/manager very attentive and accommodating. We will return again this year!

Arrived at 8.30 on a Thursday evening. Initially we were the only diners but we were made to feel very welcome. Chose the 25 euros taster menu which was excellent. 3 large starters to share which were varied and tasty. If you haven't got a big appetite leave room for the rest of the meal. These were followed by a... More

Read reports on El Chato on tripadvisor so decided to try on my visit this time. Mainly steak on the menu, best fillet i have had in years. Nicely presented with a few vegetables and fries. Staff very friendly. Wine, house rioja, at €2.50 a glass, delicious. Owner extremely friendly. Will definitely be back on my next monthly visit. (Arrived... More

Having read a previous review about being the only diners on a Tuesday night in October, we ventured in with friends. It was just before 8 and there was 6 of us, the kitchen lights were off which was a bit worrying. However, at 8 the lights went on and it was show time. One of our friends and my... More

To be fair, we were there on a Tuesday night and not in high season; probably not the most popular night of the week for dining out. We dined alone. Yes, there was no-one else in the restaurant, which is why atmosphere has not been rated above average. The staff were extremely helpful and the food was really good and... More

Charming spanish restaurant in old town of Los Alcazares. From the starters, fried camembert with berry jam, the sardines and serrano ham, to the mains, everything was perfectly cooked and presented. One of the few places we have found, you can order paella for one, it was lovely, full of fresh seafood. My partners angus steak was to die for,... More

We revisited el Chato again in June. We were not disappointed. This restaurant remains our favorite in this area. The staff were very friendly as always. The price is very reasonable too. A bottle of good house wine costs 10 euro. This time I had the black rice with squid, which was soft and tender. It was again a very... More

This is a traditional Spanish restaurant . The staff have little or no English but they try so hard to be helpful and consequently I think the service is fantastic. I loved the food and nothing is too much trouble. They got a great tip from me.
