70th birthday

Went for my husbands birthday, a significant one. Menu was interesting- always good when there are several things to tempt and we opted for two starters and a pud each. It was very busy but the buzz was lovely, the young staff excellent even though we had turned up half an hour early.

I think that's their claim. It inspires confidence so in we went. Well to be honest we were staying at Dartington Hall and a staff member recommended The Cott Inn. A very friendly reception as we walked in, someone I took to be a local recommended the local beer which came out of a large plastic barrel and good it... More

Went for lunch for my sister's birthday, four people in total. Had a very nice meal off the specials board, monk fish. The service was good even though they were busy, staff were also friendly and welcoming. Would go there again.

I do believe that I have reviewed the beautiful Cott Inn before but because it's my local and the other reviews are so good I feel that I must reiterate that the standard of this pub/restaurant never changes. There's nothing not to like about it as the atmosphere food and staff are just perfect.Mark leads a good team and has... More

I booked a table for two for my wife and myself, I also managed to change our booking with no problem on the morning of our visit as our schedule had changed for the day. Upon arrival we were escorted to our table and offered drinks, I had a glass of Shiraz and my wife had Prosecco both were good,... More

When you're off the main roads in a pub you'd have to make an effort to find and they are pretty much full on a Friday lunchtime in January, you know you've found somewhere pretty reasonable. I had the brisket burger with sweet potato fries and curried mayo and it was marvellous. Not a scrap left. The menu is a... More

We booked at the last minute, but was given a lovely table in the restaurant as the bar was very busy. We had a little wait for our food, but was kept informed at all times by lovely smiley staff. The food was delicious and we had a very pleasant evening.

This is certainly the oldest pub I have ever visited, being told on good authority that it was licensed in the 14th Century! Quaint, comfortable with efficient friendly service, we had a most enjoyable two course dinner which was of excellent restaurant standard. Obviously very popular, as it became very busy even on a wet January night. Can imagine how... More

Lovely sunday evening meal. Great Steaks for the men and the ladies had the bream. Bit of a hitch with the sweets, but after a chat with the waitress who was very sweet and switch on this immediately was sorted. Great and caring staff.

While staying at the Appalachian Spring B&B it was recommended we dine at the Cott Inn. We enjoyed our experience so much we back for dinner a second time. Both times the place was quite busy. The dining is in two sections. The entrance and front section houses a bar, table seating and a small performance area. Request a back... More
