Cuisines: English
Description: The Black Horse is a great local pub in Trowbridge - would like to be able to offer a review. I selected "English" as the type of cuisine only because "Pub" wasn't an option - it should be, given that Café and Diner are listed as options.

Sunday roast used to be fantastic and difficult to get a table, then the owners left! Now its a basic 'ping' and it's done menu, which you are left waiting for ages! when our food came out it was cold, and sone had over cooked steaks! rare was asked for and it came out well done! very disappointing it has... After having several meals out and being dissapointed, I was reluctant to have yet another cold meal, but what a lovely time my family and I had at the Black Horse. Very welcoming, had a lovely round table, waitress was very good and attentive but not too much. Oh and the food was really good, lovely and hot, and steaks... More

Went to the black horse yesterday as a group of 8. It would appear the restaurant has done a downhill huge dip since the previous owners left! Arrived around 1.30pm, ordered, waited almost an hour, complained several times, eventually food came out most stone cold meat dry and veg non existent. We sent food back then at 3.15 and after... The basics on the menu are ok if they are fresh but I asked and they said its pre cooked frozen chicken etc. the good sounds nice n is great value but just missing the taste to make me come back as bland and not quite right.

Visited the pub at lunchtime with a friend, both liked the atmosphere & friendly welcome. Our meals, Hunters Chicken and Cheesy Broccoli, were good portions and not over large. Both meals were tasty and excellent value for money. Fair range of meals can be had for £10 for two meals. Sweets were also good. Excellent place for a lunchtime meal,... More

Booked for dinner and ordered starters and mains. Starters took an hour to arrive (chicken wings) and so we needed to ask them to hurry our mains. They did hurry along but only brought out half the order and got moody when we asked for the other bits! The lady with brown bobbed hair behind the bar was really friendly... More

This is a lovely family friendly pub that does traditional classics at a good price served by friendly staff. Its nice to come and have a meal inside in the winter and in the summer its nice to be able to dine outside.

Lovely little pub witha good sized carpark. We went this time for lunch, was really well cooked food, owned by Greene king so the menu has been seen in other pubs etc, but it's cooked very well and served quickly by very friendly waiters and waitresses. The staff are great in fact, behind the bar also. They have plenty of... More
