A Ria is situated in Ferragudo along the quay side before the local market off the main square. Ferraguo is one of the most picturesque fishing villages in Portugal. A Ria is a small restaurant which compliment Ferragudo specializing in local Algarvean cuisine such as Cataplana & Monk fish rice, cuttlefish and clams is the specialty of the house. Your visit to Ferragudo and A Ria would not be complete with out tasting fresh fish grilled across the road, served with potatoes and salad but will be happy to provide home made chips and fresh vegetable if preferred. The menu caters for everyone with some excellent steak options and a small children's menu. A Ria prepares all the dishes at the time of order ensuring each dish is fresh NB.this can cause some delays in the height of the summer when the restaurant is full, you can take this time to relax and enjoy a drink or a bottle of good quality Portuguese wine. Fantastic small seafood and Mediteranean restaurant

I love the small size, intimacy and friendliness of this restaurant. Fantastic food. My wife Maryanne, our friend from Australia, and I had a wonderful evening.

Looking at TA review we visited this place only to be disappointed. Compared to other places we ate this was below par place. There are lots of other places that serves better food for better value. Go to Babalu for lunch. Grilled fish is particularly good here. O velho novo restaurant serves up great dinner. Avoid this place if you... More

The place is extremely popular, everybody wants to eat there all the time, lunch and dinner. The staff (the owner) is very friendly you can see he and his wife put a lot of effort into making the right thing. Very good food.

The first time we went to this restaurant my husband had the octopus and of course I had to try it as well. Loved it so much that we returned and both had the octopus this time. Also recommended it to my son and daughter in law who were visiting and they thought that it was one of the best... More

Second holiday in Ferragudo, but tonight was our first visit to A Rio. Boy have we been missing out. From the warm welcome and handshake from our server, to the long discussion about all sorts of things with the owners we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. It's low season, so the restaurant was very quiet. The range... More

Lovely setting and wonderful service. The vegetables were overcooked but we could not have cared less. The baked octopus was the stand out dish but rest was excellent too. The chef came and spoke to us, which was a nice touch and made us feel special. Great value. Wish we were back there now.

We were on a boys golfing trip to Pestana and visited Ferragudo to find a restaurant for dinner. We tried a couple but the best for us was A Ria. We had fresh fish, bought by weight, which was excellent as was the friendly service. We returned a couple of days later and had the same excellent experience. We're back... More

We've been to this resturant three or four times now. Lovely meal, fresh fish grilled on a open BBQ. Staff friendly, worth a visit.

A Ria is one of the best restaraunts I have ever been to with my family; we had a great evening. I had the grilled salmon which is particularly tasty, I loved my meal and it was the first time I'd eaten fish like this in a restaurant. There is also plenty for people who would prefer not to have... More
