Too dog friendly

BE AWARE THIS IS A DOG FRIENDLY PUB! We weren't aware of this fact but what it actually meant was there were several dogs wandering unsupervised about in the bar area. After the third visit to our table by a chocolate coloured Labrador I asked it's elderly owner if she could keep it under control... read more

Went today with friends. I knew I would have a really enjoyable experience, as I always do, but my friends, who have never been here before, were all most impressed by the standard of the food and of the service, neither of which I could see could be bettered. My friends all asked without exception that we can come to... More

On a very warm day I travelled over to Grassington for the day. First stop was the Black Horse, asked for a G&T and a pint which came to £7 odd. The person serving us hardly spoke to us except for asking what drinks, and during service continued to converse with the other person on the bar as well as... More

We went with friends for lunch before heading for a walk. I can't think anything good about it. The food was dreadful, some of our party hadn't even started when others had chewed through their rubber sandwich. I'm guessing this place will have to change hands soon otherwise it'll end up shutting. Won't be visiting again in the near future.

Really dire haddock and chips. A limp piece of fish with soft batter and when I took a bite there was a very distinct unfresh taste. I immediately called the waitress over and complained. She asked if I wanted anything else but it had been the only thing I fancied so I declined. She then asked me if I wanted... More

Visited the wonderful Grassington festival and went into the Black Horse for lunch. There were 4 adults and 4 children. We were offered the carvery but there were no options for children - only children's portions at adult prices! How ridiculous! Needless to say we did not linger and went back to a very accommodating pub - The White Swan-... More

Went for lunch with my dad, my son and our little Corgi. It was a nice day so we sat outside, where bowls of water were out for dogs. We all had sandwiches and chips, which were very nice, and the beer was very good. Service was good and bar staff friendly. We were also told the dog would have... More

We popped in here for lunch before heading off for a walk. We ordered drinks and food. There were 10 of us so we expected a wait but not an whole hour. This threw our schedule but that wasn't a problem. When the food came which was mostly warm sandwiches it came out in dribs and drabs. Indeed some people... More

As usual very welcoming. A pity there was a group of very unfriendly people there moaning about the presence of dogs, but refusing to go and sit in the area which is kept dog free for such people. However such a poor attitude in certain customers is not the fault of the management. Nice food, friendly service, furnishings all recently... More
