Too dog friendly

BE AWARE THIS IS A DOG FRIENDLY PUB! We weren't aware of this fact but what it actually meant was there were several dogs wandering unsupervised about in the bar area. After the third visit to our table by a chocolate coloured Labrador I asked it's elderly owner if she could keep it under control... read more

As usual very welcoming. A pity there was a group of very unfriendly people there moaning about the presence of dogs, but refusing to go and sit in the area which is kept dog free for such people. However such a poor attitude in certain customers is not the fault of the management. Nice food, friendly service, furnishings all recently... More

I didn't like the smell or state of the carpets and sticky-feeling banister when I first arrived passing through the bar to our rooms upstairs. I still wonder why they don't have flagstones in an area where drinks get spilled and food inevitably dropped. However the sight of our tiny room...my husband did not even bother bringing in his suitcase... More

Decided to have some freshly cooked food here, as all the other pubs in Grassington were very busy, ordered Lasagne, when it arrived the lasagne was plonked in a dish that was far too big for the portion that had obviously been microwaved. Not good value for money, wished we had eaten somewhere else!

What is there not to like? Welcoming atmosphere, comfortable furnishings, clean everywhere, staff efficient and obliging.... Do I need to say more? Even the bright, sunny terrace has been spruced up with better outdoor furniture so that everyone can enjoy sitting out with a good pint or whatever while overlooking the bustling Square.

Wish I had read David4holidays review before we went! We didn't get a very warm welcome and I should have been suspicious when I had to pay for the meal upfront. The starters were small but tasty and although we were the only people in we had to wait for our main meal,my steak and ale pie was luke warm with... Great, and entertaining staff with a decent selection of ales is let down by a tired fit-out, huge TV screen & uninspiring menu. Good wi-fi though.

Lovely old fashioned pub, dogs and muddy boots welcomed here. Friendly bar staff and brilliantly cooked pub food, just what we needed after our long walk! Will definately come here again!

Building nice and staff pleasant Pre-booked meal for 30 people Starter was 3 inch piece of toast with hard mushrooms for £5 Virtually everybody's mains were stone cold. Chef obviously couldn't cope and needed to reduce choice for that many plates When I left party to politely complain I said about 5 people round me were totally dissatisfied but didn't... More
