We came across the hotel by accident and were very pleased we did. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We felt quite at home. We booked 2nights. Had an excellent evening meal. The full English breakfast certainly set you up for the day. We had a comfortable room with tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom very clean.

We walked in here to see if any tables would be available for a meal, we were informed it would be about half an hour, which was fine by us. On ordering a drink, I noticed it had a trip advisor award of 4 stars for 2015 , which we took to be a good sign. After three quarters of... More

After arriving and being told we would have a 30 minute wait for a table, almost an hour later we were told we could no longer have food and had to find elsewhere. Not the only couple to be told this. Poor service, if a table is booked in it should be served! Appeared to be very much a local... More

On a camping trip with friends, we walked into Grassington from our campsite. It turned out to be a longer walk than we thought. After a delicious meal in the restaurant (burger which comes with a side of chicken wings: great idea), which has great atmosphere, we asked about a taxi to avoid walking home in the rain. The taxis,... More

Expensive and pretentious pub grub. Would certainly not recommend it particularly if you are hungry. If you do go there don't have the pan fried chicken (sparrow) breast with a flie's eye portion of fondant potatoe or lemon sole with so many small bones it was only edible with great care and patience. Also not happy when staff talk to... More

Went today with friends. I knew I would have a really enjoyable experience, as I always do, but my friends, who have never been here before, were all most impressed by the standard of the food and of the service, neither of which I could see could be bettered. My friends all asked without exception that we can come to... More

On a very warm day I travelled over to Grassington for the day. First stop was the Black Horse, asked for a G&T and a pint which came to £7 odd. The person serving us hardly spoke to us except for asking what drinks, and during service continued to converse with the other person on the bar as well as... More

We went with friends for lunch before heading for a walk. I can't think anything good about it. The food was dreadful, some of our party hadn't even started when others had chewed through their rubber sandwich. I'm guessing this place will have to change hands soon otherwise it'll end up shutting. Won't be visiting again in the near future.

Really dire haddock and chips. A limp piece of fish with soft batter and when I took a bite there was a very distinct unfresh taste. I immediately called the waitress over and complained. She asked if I wanted anything else but it had been the only thing I fancied so I declined. She then asked me if I wanted... More
