Excellent food

I'm sure it was called the Kilchoan Inn actually. We didn't stay in the hotel, but I felt compelled to write a review of the excellent food we had on two visits while we were holidaying in the area. As a bar it is a good friendly local with pleasant staff. Food is basic but real chips is a massive plus. Also a specials board helps. We had lovely beer battered scampi on first visit but when we returned for the same the scampi was frozen and breaded : ( Well worth a visit.

We stayed in Kilchoen for a week and ate here most nights. Having stayed in the village many years ago it was a pleaant surprise to find how the Hotel had improved. The new Manager is a fine host doing a great job keeping locals and visitors happy.

Really good food, quick and friendly service, but the place looks a bit rundown. Also stayed two nights: clean and spacious room with a tiny en-suite bathroom with shower. Rather dated decor and was noisier than the BB we had stayed at in Kilchoan. No views from the hotel either from the room (we overlooked the car park) or from... More

We stayed at Ardnamurchan campsite and made the 20 min walk there most nights. Good beer, excellent food (pizza is homemade and very good) very reasonably priced. Good atmosphere, a mix of locals, tourists and folk working in the area. The beer garden out the back is lovely. Great pub. Will return.

This hotel advertises their fish and chip meal using a wooden box and wire tray. Fish was well cooked but the box and wire do not make easy eating. How about a plate please. Next time I am passing I will pop in again and ask for a plate. It is peaceful and scenic to eat outside in the garden.

We visited the Hotel for food last week and were blown away by the beautiful gardens and well stocked whisky cabinet. Chatted for a while with the new managers who are working really hard to bring the place up to date (have only been in post for two weeks!). Had the potted rabbit which was brilliant and salmon which also... More

I went in with my father in law for fish and chips last week (Wednesday lunctime). What we found funny given the location was that the fish isn't fresh - surely this could be their main selling point. What we were served came on really nice wooden platters but tasted average at best. When asked, the staff stated the scampi... More

We had fantastic fish and chips on Friday night the hotel was very busy so we had to wait a wee while but well worth it, will be going back again. Will be recommending this hotel to my family and friends.

Kilchoan Hotel has had another change of management ,they are offering 5 star food and service for 3 star prices. You are greeted with a Highland welcome by Sarah or her team, the atmosphere is relaxed with coal fires in the bars. The Menu is totally unexpected for a rural Highland hotel. Your biggest problem will be in deciding what... More
