Gorgeous gluten-free cake

After a long walk on Ulva, it was great to find that the Boathouse served gluten-free cake. A very delicious chocolate almond cake. I really enjoyed this before catching the ferry back to Mull.

This place was a big surprise. We assumed that it would be tea and cake brought ashore from the mainland (Mull!). Not at all, it looks like they make everything there and whilst they do have tea and cake, both of which are very tasty, they also have quite a wide range of seafood available. We saw some of the... This was a very special experience. First summoning the tiny passenger ferry by changing the wooden signal board to red. Then stepping off the ferry onto the glorious tranquil car-free island of Ulva. Then lunch in The Boathouse - cosy with the best seafood on the planet. And the home baking was even better. The Boathouse is worth just getting the ferry over to Ulva for. We went in on arrival and had tea and cakes, then walked around part of the island and returned for a late lunch. The food is wonderful, rolls are baked daily and are so tasty. If you like seafood then they have some good dishes. Great island, great... More

I love this restaurant, and thoroughly enjoy my annual pilgrimage to Ulva and the boat house. The sea food is outstanding. Somewhat amazingly enough, the weather has been lucky each time, meaning we could sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful views. I also value the other local produce. As well as fresh seafood, amazing soup, true doorstep sandwiches,... More

Excellent food. Pots of dressed crab followed by Lemon meringue tarts - some of which we also used as take-away. Beautiful day, walks and Ferry crossing - the best day of our holiday.

After a two and a half hour walk on the island amidst beautiful scenery, we arrived back at the boathouse around 2pm. We sat outside admiring the view and ordered the mixed seafood platter. It was amazing and included langoustines, oysters, crab and more at a very reasonable price. We completed the meal with homemade cake. The best meal of... More
