Description: The dining room at the Anchor is light and bright with double doors...
The dining room at the Anchor is light and bright with double doors leading out onto the beautiful garden. With elegant country style decor and seating 40, it is extremely popular, so it is always a good idea to ring before you come or call and make a reservation. On Sundays we always offer at least two different roast meat dishes at lunch time. You can dine informally in the garden - in the summer, lounge and public bar where the menu is the same as in the dining room. Although children are most welcome in the dining room and can have great fun playing in the garden, we do like to keep the pub side for adults only.

Having found this pub by accident about 18 months ago and had a very good meal we decided to travel 30 miles to revisit. In the pretty little village of Oldbury you find The Anchor Inn with its very pretty garden. There's loads of parking and level disabled access. The ambiance here is lovely because they really have got it... More

Thanks for the comfortable stay at the Anchor. The room was spacious and the large bed very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely but the auto lights and fan did go on for a while. The breakfast facilities were delicious, I am a full English breakfast fan but the food supplied started me off for the day. The pub and grounds... More

Whilst slightly off the beaten track this Hostelry is well worth the detour. The menu is varied and wholesome, particularly the ham which is locally sourced and off the bone. The staff are very welcoming and the service efficient with a smile. Across the road is an access lane where one can walk to the banks of the Severn with... More

Went for lunch on our wedding anniversary and sat outside in the garden. My wife ordered Cornish Sole which was delicious. I ordered Rib Eye Steak which was awful. I had a job to cut it, the meat was tough and the grid they use to put the lines on it had been left on too long and had burnt... More

Escorting an American client around the UK, we were both delighted to be taken to this typically British old country pub in Oldbury. Lovely stone walls, low ceilings, a wide selection of beers and a good pub food menu. There's not a huge amount of seating and the pub was busy on a Tuesday lunchtime. But we found a little... More

I have visited the Anchor on two previous occasions which were midweek and loved the food and the atmosphere. This time I went on a Saturday and whilst the atmosphere was lovely the food left something to be desired. I initially ordered a salmon salad, but this had run out, then ordered a "whole sea bass". When it came it... More

Having spent much of my teen years in this pub and not having visited for probably 15 year we were looking forward to lunch on our visit to Thornbury. We had booked and our table was ready on arrival. The restaurant area was not very busy, I think only 3 other tables occupied. Had to ask for menu having sat... More

We had not visited here for several years and I am pleased to say that, although the pub has been modernised, it has lost none of its rural charm or excellent beer and food. We had lunch in the dining room which was quiet and comfortable, the food was very good and the prices reasonable. A friendly welcome from the... More
