Good value dining, pleasant atmosphere, decent beer

Visited this pub with friends last Thursday to take advantage of their 2-for-1 dining offer. All main courses ( steak, game pie, and belly pork) were enjoyed as were the desserts.Although some extension building work is onoing to provide B&B accommodation, this didn't really adversely affect the... read more

We stayed in a holiday cottage is Seaton for a week in March, and the George & Dragon was only about 100 metres from the door, so of course we tried this pub first before going to other pubs in neighbouring villages. What we found when we entered was an old, sweet room overflowing with warmth and character (and characters).... More

My Australian guest is a railway enthusiast,so today, March 27th 2015 I took him to see the Harringworth Viaduct. We were lucky to spot the pub restaurant as we searched for another vantage-point for more pictures and made our way back there for lunch - not knowing what to expect, but hungry. We were not disappointed! My guest had the... More

We like a pub open all hours, with friendly staff and lots of handpumps. To be honest, this did not seem like our sort of place. Only open around food times it was hard to get a handle on without going the whole hog and eating there. So, on holiday, and on a whim and a prayer, we did. Cosy... More

Visited: October 2014. This place is one to avoid. The real ales are poorly kept thus taste and smell very bad, you do get plenty of free sediment in the bottom of your glass, though! The food was a huge let down too, obviously microwaved, bland and VERY slow! As if that isnt enough, building work (that according to locals... More

This is a cosy pub with bars and a restaurant selling tasty, good quality home cooked meals. Definitely not the average "pub grub". I tried the crispy roast duck in sweet chilli sauce with salad, which was very good although the duck could have been crispier. My wife opted for the steak and ale pie with vegetables. The pie was... George and Dragon is a traditional country pub offering great atmosphere and lovely food. We went on a Thursday when the menu is 1/2 price. The food was high quality and home made. The service was very friendly and as the pub was busy it had a good atmosphere. Would not hesitate to go back or recommend it to friends.

Just a short review to say how much we enjoyed our meal on 14-08-2014 I had the surf and turf priced at £12.85 which consisted of a rump steak with scallops served with seasonal veg and choice of chips or potatoes. The flavors were excellent on the slight down side the scallops were relatively small and slightly over down the... More

This country pub was highly recommended to us and being a bit sceptical that it could be as good as said we came and tried it ourselves. We had three different meals and deserts with drinks before. The atmosphere is brilliant - a really healthy buzz lots of lovely people clearly having fun. They all appeared to be local and... More
