Lovely evening - yet again.

Visited Loch Croistean again at the end of May having been there last year. Had a lovely, simple meal and enjoyed the two guys who were singing there that evening. Took two friends from Germany with us who were entranced by the place. Will be back as soon as we are up in the Western Isles again... read more

Lovely and interesting building (former schoolhouse); briefly met the woman in charge who was friendly, if distracted at the time. The leek and potato soup was really creamy and nice, though the servings could have been a WEE bit larger in my opinion. The lad who was about during our time there was mainly useless, but friendly. Overall an interesting... More

We've just visited Loch Croistean for the 4th year in a row and deliberately went to Uig so that we could have lunch there. The menu is simple, using local ingredients but never disappoints. If you're visiting Lewis it's definitely worth a trip.

Gem of a place on road to Uig. Delicious food, fabulous baking and a welcoming atmosphere. The lady who runs the place seems to have boundless energy and is very hospitable.

Restaurant is in an old school and owned by a lovely lady who cooks to order. The menu is limited enabling the owner to concentrate her efforts to producing good home cooked food. Booking is advisable as the restaurant is small and cosy.

We love this place and its idiosyncratic solution to service. Diners are welcomed into what was the main schoolroom and seated at an eclectic selection of tables and chairs. The chalkboard menus list what is on the menu that night, usually a selection of three dishes to suit all tastes. Starters are delivered to the tables and then the main... More

We popped in for coffee and cake, both of which were excellent. Only wish we'd had time to have dinner. The building was a former school and the dining room with its high ceilings was great.

We stopped at the Loch Croistean Coffee Shop just as they were opening at midday. The restaurant is in the area of Uig on the Isle of Lewis. Not much is nearby, so the coffee shop made a good oasis. The owner is very friendly and engaging and the homemade sweets are delicious. When touring the fine beaches of Lewis,... More

Visited for lunch one day while on holiday as had read some of the reviews and were not disappointed the food was all homemade and very reasonable so we decided to come back on our last night Friday for the four course dinner with coffee for 24.75p ahead plus take your own wine the meal was fabulous starter served at... This place is in the middle of nowhere and is a welcome stop. The building is an old school house and keeps some of the charm from the original building. Staff are brilliant and have lots of time for the customers. Coffee and tea were good and the tray bakes were delicious. Well worth planning your stop here for a... More
