Extra fast service by friendly staff, our family ordered three sunday dinners. They arrived 7 minutes later with a lovely home-made Yorkshire pudding, real beef dripping roast potatoes, I had a lovely neat length of crackling, smooth mash, meat gravy and a bowl of three perfectly cooked al-dente vegetables..... Real home cooked traditional Sunday Lunch in a real traditional village... More

Dear Janey L "Real home cooked traditional Sunday Lunch in a real traditional village pub - hearty portions and a warm welcome" Just by this sentence alone we feel we have met the high standards we set ourselves and achieved our aims. It is lovely to read such comments and we have passed them on to all our staff. We... More

Wow, if you want a good feed for great value and a decent pint, then get yourself to the Waggon and Horses. We hadn't been for quite sometime and called in on spec and luckily managed to get a table as the place was booked up. Despite being full, service was very efficient and the landlord made time to come... More

We are extremely busy at the moment which you mentioned but we always pride ourselves on taking the time out to make each customer feel special as we feel that when dining out this is the least anyone should expect. I have to say that I was a little surprised to read the latest reviews for this pub. We had a meal here on Monday 18th August and couldn’t fault it. The pub is what I would class as a typical traditional local pub, yes it’s a little dark and has a more old fashioned feel to it unlike your... More

Dear shell123uk Thank you for taking the time to write a review based upon your experience at The Waggon and Horses. We are as you pointed out a traditional village pub and with the emergence of large food chain pubs we feel this is our unique selling point as we can provide that personal touch that is sometimes lacking in... Not been to this pub for a long time but went for a meal with friends and very disappointing as seemed neglected and in need of modernisation. Food was OK but nothing special, a bit pricey for a run down pub. Its owners, presume a chain, should invest and make-it worth a visit again, until then we shall leave it... More

Dear Ian 409 I am sorry you had a disappointing visit to The Waggon and Horses but thank you for writing your review. We are not a chain and are an independent family pub/restaurant and have owned the business for 16 years during which we have built a good reputation for our food and service. The pub has recently been... More

The food is basic home cooking which was reasonable. Unfortunately the more expensive cuts of meat and other improved items on the menu also suffer from the 'home cooking' method and presentation. The Waggon and Horses is trying to be a little more that it is actually capable of. The Gluten Free aspects of the menu is good and is... More

Dear Scrimboblik Firstly let me apologise for the delay in my response but things have been rather hectic here trade wise. Thankyou for taking the time to review The Waggon and Horses and I will now address some of the points you raised. I am unsure what you mean when you say that our food 'suffers from the home cooking... More

This is a pub that is past its sell by date, you walk in and your feet stick to the black dirt covering the once red carpet, the walls and furnishings all need decoration and replacement, it is all sticky and unpleasant. The food is very average and again a tired menu offering little to wet the appetite. On the... More

This pub was recommended to me by a friend. We are a family of 8 and 3 of us are GF. The choice for GF is the best I have ever seen and the staff are certainly up on this. For once we can go out and eat what every one else is eating with no fuss and not expect... More

Dear ChocolateBec Wow what a lovely review. Thankyou! It is brilliant to know from customers such as yourself that our efforts are being rewarded via your satisfaction. Gluten free is an area which we feel strongly about as we believe - like you - that choices for eating out should not be limited to jacket potatoes and salad. We look... More

My family and I had dinner in this pub last Sunday and I cannot rave about it enough. The food was lovely - a beautifully cooked Sunday dinner that I would highly recommend.
