An excellent experience

Greeted with a warm and friendly smile on a cold wet & windy February evening, settled into our seats and quickly forgot the weather outside. A good menue to pick from and a wonderfull meal was served. A thoroughly enjoyable experience hopefully to be repeated soon.

This evening was to celebrate my wife's birthday and our sons engagement which he announced yesterday. A very pleasant evening indeed coupled with excellent food and equally good service. Will be back soon!

We went for my mum's birthday, 6 of us for dinner, including 2 vegetarians, the food was fantastic the service was excellent and it was a refreshing change to visit a genuine old pub without all the 'gastro pub' embellishments! The lamb counter was the best I've ever had!

We were shown straight to our table despite it being busy. The level of service is excellent, the staff take the food and drink orders promptly and everything is brought quite... More

When we arrived the pub was busy as always, orders taken and sat down with our drinks. Food was delivered quickly and efficiently with a smile. My wife had the vegetarian curry, she is not vegetarian... More

We visited as a party of 4 for lunch. There is a lunchtime special menu, which is two meals for £10, and we could see lots of people ordering from that. We have said we will return and try it. We were celebrating a birthday so we pushed the boat out a bit more. We all had a starter, 2... More

We visited today (Saturday 23rd January 2016) for lunch and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had a jacket potato with prawn Marie rose and a side of cheesy garlic bread, my husband had a Buffalo burger and our daughter had the kids spaghetti bolognese. Our meals came with a delicious side salad of lettuce, peppers, cucumber, onion and balsamic... More

Had been hiking in the area and thought we'd pop in for lunch. Wow! What a fantastic country pub. An essentially British menu well designed from local produce. I had the beef medallions and my girlfriend had the fillet steak. I'd have to say that it's one of the best meals I've ever had (not joking). I'm not the sort... More
