Worth the wait!

You've read all the reviews and they don't lie. Yes it's expensive but the brain behind the food is truly genius. How do you get tiny peas to taste heavenly or slightly smoked anchovies to melt in your mouth. The star of the show was the smoked goats cheese which has a taste truly unique and... read more

This restaurant was the highlight of my trip. You will find nothing but the best products highlighted by simplicity in cooking. Pure wonderful flavors. We had the menu which was only 125 euros per person and ordered a few other items on top that we wanted to try. We had a quite a few bottles of wine and left having... More

We had planned this for 6 months after reviewing a article by a chef in our national paper in Australia There was a lot of planning to arrive at this beautiful village however from the outset we were appalled at the level of service in particular the attitude of the sommelier The service was woeful and the food passable I'm... Small and cozy country house restaurant, spectacular views . Fully Degustation menu that you can change any dish if you like or have allergies or something. The "Cod KOKOTXAS" are really smooth and tasty smokyflavoured. Almost all dishes have this "smoked perfume" as they are cooked that "barbecued" way, that its not easy to find. The chocolate souffle is madness... More

Etxebarri was on my list for a long time having heard many positive stories about the "charcoil" and "smoking" cooking techniques of the famous chef Viktor. We had the tasting menu for 125 euro's and with a nice Gran riserva we were ready for it! The courses kept coming and coming and we made it to the final course with... More

Had their tasting menu as soon as I got to the Basque country via Bilbao. Ate in several one and three stars restos the next few days but always had Etxebarri at the back of my mind for best tasting food. In my opinion, the only thing stopping the restaurant from getting more stars is showmanship (which the 3 stars... More

Never what you expect i.e. not as rustic. Great menu and staff. Looked after me very very well re changing a few items in the degustation.

Part of a week long culinary trip with very seasoned foodies, Etxebarri exceeded our highest expectations, especially in light of the world-class restaurants we compared it with. The first tip off that this in not your average Michelin-starred restaurant is the trip - well up into the Pyrenees. Beautifully sited in an quaint mountain village in the shadow of an... More

My family has been coming to this restaurant for years and it was time for me to try it! This Asador has gained a spot amongst culinary talks all over the world and when we started hearing about it also in Asia, where we live, we decided not to postpone any longer and travel to this beautiful valley for a...
