In the small village of Axpe Achondo, at the end of nowhere there is a small restaurant, more like a countryside bar at the first sight. But if you go up to the restaurant level you fine a real fine restaurant based on simple, very fresh ingredients, fish and meat, all prepared on a chargrill. In the kitchen, if you... More

Simply not worth the money. An experience maybe but can not justify the price and you will feel like a fool for spending $150 for lunch. A nice place and relatively friendly people but after all is said and done you came for a "top 50 in the world" experience and got a good steak and some really nice appetizers.... More

Here is the bad: Boring decor, small wine list. Here is the good: Amazing food. Great wines on the smalll wine list. Warm and attentive service. One of the great restaurants of the world. First, the wine list, which is where you should start: it is small, but has many GREAT producers at moderate prices; you can drink great grower... More

Restaurant was recommended to me so dropped in from UK for lunch,I was very much looking forward to it,but it was a disappointment and grossly overrated. Pretty location, but inside lacking in ambience and our shared salad consisted of 1 lettuce leaf. Money is no object but you know that feeling, when you have not had value!!! Spartan lunch was 200+ and... More

Great BBQ We had the tasting menu and almost everything was exquisite. In hindsight, we would have ordered a la carte instead and focused our attention on a few spectacular dishes. The service was excellent and friendly, as one would expect from a restaurant of this calibre.

Overall, was great lunch, as one would expect for $500 for 5 people. We opted to go a la carte and ordered half of menu to try. Service not up to top-shelf pxes....Some of what we ordered never showed up (shrimp, peas, glass if wine, etc), and some of what we didn't order did show up (clams)...most things were great... More

The food here is to be commended since most of the ingredients used are produced locally or sourced in excellent condition from premier vendors.Good smoked butter and mozzarella, smoke oyster and anchovies as well as fish and beef.Reasonably good wine list with an appropriate focus on domestic wines.Wonderful day so we ate on the terrace and enjoyed the magnificent scenery. The main... Very nice food--increasingly poor value. Not surprisingly in our last visit the restaurant was only half full. It beautiful location, and enticing concept remain the same. The fascination with elite ingredients from outside the area (gambas de Palamos, chorizo with pork from Joselito, etc.) is disconcerting and seems to mainly add reasons to make prices higher. The more local stuff... More

My husband and I stopped for lunch at Asador Etxebarri on our way from Santander to San Sebastian and we were so pleased that we did. Situated on the second floor of a quaint stone house in a tiny village in the Basque countryside this restaurant is not like any other Michelin starred restaurant that we have been to. Lacking... I was super excited to try out this restaurant as it was one of the 50 greatest in the world supposedly. We rented a car, which is the only way to go to this restaurant as it is literally in the middle of no where. The house is beautiful and the setting is amazing. We all did the tasting menu... More
