Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Asador Etxebarri. If you are staying in San Sebastian, don't let the distance deter you. We were initially a bit hesitant, but found the food worth the journey (particularly the staggeringly delicious chorizo, prawns and ice cream). The restaurant also prepared a heavenly birthday cake/pastry! If you don't have a car and don't want to... More

Traveled from Hawaii to eat here, had to rent a car and commute from San Sebastian but it was definitely worth it. The restaurant is located in a nice spot with great views. Food was well prepared and very delicious, flavors weren't overwhelming with simplistic seasoning, everything was fresh and made in house. We had the tasting menu for a... More

And it delivered, having heard if the place for quiet sometimes, that was in November 2011, I was expecting a lot and I must says that I was taken aback. The simplicity of the dinning room, with a very minimalist decor but attention to detail set the tone. From the nibble and country bread at the start to the dessert... More

We were told about this restaurant from somebody who knows all the best places in the basque country and still we were knocked out with it....a small village with the 13th best restaurant in the world!...the place is very smart and we were expecting a farmhouse!...food and wine are top notch and i highly recommend the steak..we met the owner... We arrived in the village early for our reservations. So glad we did as the lighting was perfect for taking photos of the wooden doors. We choose the tasting menu and oh boy am I glad we did. From the first offerings of the goat milk butter and sour dough bread through the ice milk and beetroot sauce we were... More

...but the service and ambiance hardly match it! We had lunch, had we been seated in the main dining room I might have thought otherwise, but sitting out at the poorly shaded terrace in July heat and served at an unpredictable pace.

I've seen some negative reviews about this place recently, well all I can do is relate our experience. I saw a feature on British TV by Rick Stein a couple of years ago and thought how good it looked. We would have gone last year when we were in the area but it's closed for the whole of August. So... For those of you old enough to remember Peter Seller's last film, Being There may have a flashback when you visit this restaurant. You may remember that Sellers played a a man called Chance, simple gardener who, when his benefactor dies, becomes Chauncey Gardiner, a mysterious sage-like figure whose simplistic utterances are interpreted as allegorical statements about business and the... At this, our second visit to Extebarri, our expectations was extremely high since our first visit was such a breathtaking experience. Victor and his crew are simply so genuine, respectful and inartificial in their approach to the broad variety of surf and turf raw material from local producers. True artists! The genious way to use heat and smoke from open... More
