We were here amidst Christmas parties for a small gathering of family and friends after my father's funeral. The staff allocated us a separate dining area and made every effort to look after us well. As it took a few days planning - and across 1000 km by email I was also grateful to the staff for their willingness to... More

We stopped in here for Sunday lunch as it looked nice from the outside. While I expected it to have a cosy, country feel it felt somewhat drab and neglected. The staff were an odd bunch; an idiot of a manager (I'll come to that later), a perfectly pleasant but apathetic guy who appeared to be wearing pyjamas and two... More

We like to use the Magpie because we can take our little boat and moor up, have a meal and a glass or two of wine and poodle back home. Always a good menu fairly priced, on a hot day, get there early to get a good table.

I chose The Magpie to meet with someone from my primary school days when we both lived in Sunbury and went to Kenyngton Manor Primary School he moved to Canada in the 50's and then USA and we had not met for 59 years. In the event I have to say one particular member of staff a young lady unfortunately... More

I met friends here for a reunion - the staff could not have been friendlier - very accommodating - but the food (a club sandwich) was dry and had to be sent back as it was not made correctly the first time - not cheap - about £8. Lovely location on the river - outdoor seating.

I thought very hard about whether I should write this review. The Magpie was my favourite pub for many years. We used to go at least twice a week and we tried the menu from top to bottom (and back again). Must have eaten 30 Focaccia chicken burgers, my favourite dish ever. And then a new manager arrived followed by... More

The menu has good variety and the standard of food is also good. Sunday lunches particularly. The staff don't seem that bothered with pleasantries, and the service is slow. Views over river from the outside spaces are nice, but often tables are cleared very slowly.

Having been to the Magpie many times, this pub has gone down hill. We visited recently & only stayed for one drink, when we had planned to stay for a meal. Both bar man were rude & couldn't care less, also messed up our order. The whole place inside looked like it needed a good clean & is beginning to... More

We use the Magpie a lot over the summer months purely because of its location. Plus points are Usually decent pub food at average prices Nice riverside location But there the plus points end and the issues with this pub begin 1. Poor poor service by bar staff who obviously have little or no interest in being there let alone... More

Two separate visits, require two different reviews. Here you are likely to enjoy a well presented starter, which tastes as good as it looks. The steaks are fine and you may also enjoy the curries. However, avoid the fisherman's pie. Extremely boney.
