Excellent Sunday lunch

An excellent Sunday Lunch served into the evening, it was very good. I had the roasted belly pork - truly good, a plated meal served with wintervegetables icluding roast potatoes. The crackling was brill and I enjoyed the apple sauce. Personally, I'd have liked a few green veg, but the red... read more

My boyfriend and I really wanted a Sunday roast and as I lived locally picked the magpie as I'd heard good things about the food. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice we were sat with a view of the river however the window was broken and did let in a draft which made it very cold but not... More

My husband and I have just come back from a Sunday lunch here with out two small children. We arrived at 12.30pm and ordered food and drinks straight away. Our food did not arrive until 1.40pm and no explanation as to why we had had to wait so long even when asked. Food was lovely if quite pricey but the... More

Took my family of 5 here last Sunday and had a wonderful visit! The food was top notch, if not a pricey and the staff were very approachable. The two waiters went out of their way to help as I had small children; they were a delight. I believe their names were Nick and Will. Highly recommend and will be... More

Can't comment on the food but a good pub with a nice river side location. Warm welcome, easy to get a beer and a nice atmosphere.

We were visiting a friend who lived near by and he had eaten here and thought that the menu was good so booked a table for us.... 3 adults, 2 children and 2 babies..... Different Menu for Sunday's however it... More

We were here amidst Christmas parties for a small gathering of family and friends after my father's funeral. The staff allocated us a separate dining area and made every effort to look after us well. As it took a few days planning - and across 1000 km by email I was also grateful to the staff for their willingness to... More

We stopped in here for Sunday lunch as it looked nice from the outside. While I expected it to have a cosy, country feel it felt somewhat drab and neglected. The staff were an odd bunch; an idiot of a manager (I'll come to that later), a perfectly pleasant but apathetic guy who appeared to be wearing pyjamas and two... More

We like to use the Magpie because we can take our little boat and moor up, have a meal and a glass or two of wine and poodle back home. Always a good menu fairly priced, on a hot day, get there early to get a good table.
