Drinks Pricey!!

Booked on the day for a table of 8 that evening. Later found out that they do not always open the restaurant upstairs and that you are sat downstairs with the bar snacks menu. Phoned back to confirm and this was the case, I asked why I was not told this at the time of booking. Person on put me... read more

I live close to this Pub and I just love it. This and The Pheonix have two different but so close views of the Thames. The difference in price and space make The Mapgie so much better than the the other for people without kids running around but it can be let down by the food - on paper is... More

Was the 5th pub that we tried to get food at on a Saturday night. Despite having large adverts outside about their food, three out of the four weren't serving anything and at the fourth the landlady said that she could probably rustle us up some burgers! But they all did us a favour because the fifth place we tried... More

We have just celebrated here and really enjoyed it. Rodney and his team were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble they even did the decorating for us! The food was very good and being upstairs overlooking the river just finished the whole celebration off. I would definitely use The Magpie again for parties in the future. We drink... More

I ordered a crayfish sandwich. It was a few bits of delicious crayfish on a piece of toast. My colleague had peppered squid, which again was delicious but a bit sparse on the plate. Great quality food but not particularly generous so felt is wasn't great value. You pay for being beside the river, if you sit outside in the... More

Varied menu, quite expensive but good quality. We had Cured Trout with rocket and fennel shavings to start which was very good. I had burger in a brioche type bun with homemade chips which I enjoyed, my friends had battered haddock and chips and fresh beef salad which was also very good. Apparently the beef was melt in the mouth,... More

It has been 7 months since we last went to The Magpie and my review then was not very favourable. We decided to see if thigs had changed and went for dinner on Friday. The pub was busy and buzzing. All of the team members were cheerful and quick at serving. Aspall had been taken off the drinks list but... More

We have been living in Lower Sunbury, for more than 5 years, and have seen the Magpie change hands several times. But I can truly say that its new management is by far the best so far. I go there regularly with loads of friends, and mostly rather loud and demanding women. And never once has Andy's team complained or... More
