Quaint, but a little run down..

We stopped in here for dinner on a Friday nigh and the place was packed. We ended up sitting near the entrance. Not the greatest place in freezing February. I ordered a burger which was mediocre and my wife had liver and onions. She said it was pretty good but the mashed potatoes dominated the... read more

Surrounded by a great view, the picturesque town of Elora, is this quaint pub with great potential which is literally going down the drain with the staff. From behavioral issues and the managements refusal to fire several people including the main bartender, and freshen the place up. The tiles you must walk on to reach the rest rooms are utterly... Found this pub to be dated and somewhat cold and drafty. The walk to the bathroom has you encountering a very unappetizing smell of dank, moldy basement/sewer. The service was just ok. Food was average. Steps down into this basement pub make it not handicap accessible. Won't return.

I was there when Adrian Jones had his students playing - very small but bright enough Menu had a great selection of food with good sized portions. I had the Beef - Guiness Pie which was delish coming with mashed potatoes, gravy and peas. Even have some Indian food. Everything looked good that was ordered by the 20 people I... More

Over the years we have visited our 'local' on many occasions, and have usually come away more than satisfied: indeed on our most recent visit, while the place was packed, the quality of the food and of the service was extremely good. The Shepherds Pub has a good selection of beers on tap, both British and local. With it's stone... More

Have only been here for drinks before and decided spur of the moment to go for lunch and was very impressed. My partner and I both wound up having the fish and chips and it was delicious and the one piece with fries was a generous portion. Highly recommended. They have a decent variety of beer on tap and cider... More

The pub is a little worn down, but in a homey lived in way. It has nice authentic feel and is what I would expect in a public house... The beer selection is decent for sure. I only order Guinness mind you and it is always cold and fresh. For the meals....banger's and mash. They are simply the best I... More

My boyfriend and I did a last-minute road trip to Elora, and ended up here through three verbal recommendations from locals. Had an excellent meal; staff were very friendly, and they have a great selection of local beers. The ambiance was akin to a real British pub, low-key and we were able to chat (note: they do have live music... More

A nice place to watch the river, if you get a window seat. And, a good selection of beers. However, it has seen better days. Just because you want to emulate an English pub, doesn't mean you have to be worn out. The tables could use replacing and some thorough cleaning would help. The pub fare is average, but reasonably...
