Nice atmosphere

This was my first visit to the Moody Mare, with my daughter just having moved close by. There was a warm welcome and nice atmosphere. The only disappointment was the quite pricey food. What we had was very nice but for lunch time pub grub a bit over-priced in my opinion. The most disappointing... read more

First visit since the refurb and name change. Great service, very attentive staff who were keen to please. Had the Roast platter which was very tasty and plenty of it. Will be back for sure.

Unfortunately the cheese ploughman that my daughter and myself had was very very poor, can I suggest that the Chef takes himself/herself down to the Black Lion in Appledore where you get what you pay for

Lovely welcome from the bar staff who served us quickly and we were shown to a table straight away. We had the roast dinners. They were delicious. Good portions and the best roast potatoes ever. We were passing from Yorkshire on our way to the south coast. And would come this way again just to go here for a meal.

This is the second time we have visited, first as The Beeches and recently as The Moody Mare to celebrate the end of term as a large group of friends. We had a lovely evening on both occasions, the chef was very accommodating, preparing something that was not on the menu for a couple of guests with special requirements. The... More

We have been to the Moody Mare with family and friends twice over the last few weeks. On both occasions we had a very good evening and everybody (age range early 20s to late 50s) really enjoyed the whole experience. This includes: the décor (retained the old but with a modern twist and feel); the very friendly staff (though it... More

We have just arrived home from our first encounter at 'The Moody Mare'. Having been fans of 'The Beeches' we had high expectations. Alas, the experience was somewhat disappointing. We arrived early and was looking forward to enjoying a pre dinner drink at the bar. The bar maid served us and then told us that a table of 20 were... More

Following all the hype that I had received about Beeches 'reinventing' itself as The Moody Mare via various texts and looking at the posh new website, I expected so much more. ' They now say that they are a pub that does good food and NOT a restaurant? I beg to differ. Yes there is a small separate bar area... More
