Bakers.. do not think of breads (i think they do sell though).. is a restaurant at the Taj.. its based at the 100 year old bungalow owned by the renowned Baker's family (once upon a time)... so, with food.. you will also enjoy a piece of Kumarakom heritage.. ambience is wonderful.. needless to say for a Taj.. set by the... We had almost every meal here during our three day stay at Kumarakom. The food was absolutely delicious - we especially loved the Pachakari stew with appams and the Ada Pradaman was one of the best desserts we have ever had. We were well looked after by Mr. Dutta, who offered great suggestions not just on the food but also... More

Excellent Choice for an Evening Get-together. If you are planning for a family get-together or an outing with friends, you may give this restaurant a try. The ambiance is really nice. Well maintained lawn, beautiful landscaping, a pond for pedal boating, trees and greenery all around the boundary are some of the attractions. Spending an evening with family or friends... More

Had a few dinners and couple of lunch when we stayed at Vivanta by Taj Kumarakom. Ambience was good, in the heritage Baker House. Tasty food, but options were limited. Especially if veg then very few options. But on the whole was ok.

We chose to eat at the Taj instead of Kumarakom Lake resort where we were staying. The Taj was more rustic and I loved the historic link with the Baker family. The hotel has been converted from the Baker home and this house featured in two books I was reading on the holiday: The God of Small Things and The... More

Baker House is perhaps the oldest surviving heritage house on Vembanadu lake in Kumarakom. It is now a Taj group hotel, converted into its Vivanta brand resort. Set to one side of Baker House is its restaurant, in the garden, without any walls. It is as though the outdoors rolls into the indoors. While we sat sipping cold beer in... More

During my recent visit to Kumarakom, my family of totally six members and two kids visited this place for a dinner. The choice of food, especially vegetarian, was limited. But whatever we ordered, the taste was superb. We had nice starter, mocktails and main course and yummy ice creams to end the dinner. Every item was presented in typical Taj... More

They have some great local dishes matched with good ambiance. Would have loved a better choice of beers but one can live with that :)

We stayed at the hotel and ate there every night. There was so much choice that we didn't get bored of it and there was a lot of choice!
