One of my favourite restaurants

I have been coming to eat at the Castilleria for more years than I care to remember; whilst they now have a enclosed kitchen and tiles on the floor (it use to be much more rustic) the one thing that has not changed over the years is the quality of the food - always exceptionally high. For carnivores this is the best place to eat. The food is fantastic and the service is welcoming. The seatings in the garden are cosy. A great place for dining out away from town, with friends or a romantic table for two

this is a place so far off the beaten path....and so worth the trek. its nearby to vejer de la frontera (in fact there are amazing views, near to barbate. it specializes in retinta beef, which we were told is one of the best. the restaurant is a place to dine in quiet outdoor beauty and enjoy a really special... Santa Lucia is famed for its still-functioning series of Roman aquaducs and fresh water springs. People come from miles to drink the water but the restaurant's bottled water comes from the Sierra Nevada. Dining in the cool shade of the garden's fruit trees and flowers is an experience not to be missed. Having to drive, we asked for just one... More

Wow. Castilleria was great. We were really lucky because tables are booked for the whole summer now, but I'm thinking to make reservations for next year already. We ordered castrated bull, Avila beef loin and pork chops, plus a cod and goat cheese salad. Specifically the Avila beef, was so tender, soft and tasty. Great wine, dessert, and the bill... More

As we had rented a villa in Santa Lucia we were pleased to find a rated restaurant in the village, as a Brit we arrived more or less on opening time without a reservation and were made to feel privileged that they could fit us in. The meal started with an amuse bouche (one small piece between two) which was... More

This is one of the best steak places around; so much so that I am reluctant to even share! It is known for its beef which therefore won't surprise the visitors on arrival to see an open kitchen with the meat on display in a large fridge. It is a meat Restraurant that does meat really really well. We had... More

We had an excellent lunch with friends. We all had steaks which is basically what they specialise in. Couldn't fault any of the food or the service but I have had equally as good steaks around the area for €5/6 per head cheaper. That coupled with the IVA added on after which again is unusual and unexpected made it a... More

This is a fantastic restaurant for meat. It is in the display counter at the front of the kitchen for you to choose/ask about cuts. The staff are fluent in several languages just ask for someone who speaks yours. Even when they don't they still try and help! The steaks are just fantastic, as are the starters and deserts. We...
