Truly brilliant

Well you've read the reviews and it's well deserved. When we visited, The Test Kitchen had just been voted the SA Eating Out's top award, and it was easy to see why. Brilliant inventive food. What a celebration..... amazing food, great wines and a great place to celebrate special occasions and special friendships. The presentation is fantastic and we could not wait for the next course and the paired wine. Only one of the wines did not hit the mark. If you are doing the Gourmand with wine, start at about 6.30pm, definitely not later... More

This is a very special place. Worth the wait. Unbelievable flavours. Almost over does it, but just holds back. We had the "standard" wines and they were vg. So why only 4. I just liked Pot Luck better and someone has to win -ties are dull.

I walked into the restaurant and counted 18 folks in the kitchen getting ready for about 40 or 45 covers...I thought what the heck....why so many cooks? It began to make sense when the ultra elaborate dishes started to come out. From the amuse bouche to the mains each dish had at least a dozen components and must have taken... More

I can see why this restraurant is on the top 10 in South Africa list. The food and wine pairing lunch menu was excellent. The service was brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I have never enjoyed duck before and was so surprised at how much i enjoyed it this time and the pairing of Rainbows end Merlot... More

We booked several months in advance for our lunch here, and I am so glad we got to experience this amazing restaurant. We loved everything about it, the atmosphere, the repartee of the chefs, the food/wine pairings, the presentation and the most amazing personal service from Filipe our waiter. The pork belly is the best I have ever tasted. Thoroughly... More

Booked 6 months in advance for a friend's birthday, and the expectations were uber high. Except for the price, they did not disappoint! People moaning about the VOLUME of food should not come here. This is a french cuisine experience, and everything of this eating style is exactly what you think it will be - one carrot with a salty... More

Do what you have to to get a reservation. We were lucky on the waiting list, and got a table for 2 for lunch. Superb service, food out of this world. A superlative experience. Amazing cheap when paying in £.

This is considered one of the Top 50 Restaurants in the world, we were not able to get dinner reservations, but had a lovely lunch. I think with wine our total was ~$50/each. The portion sizes are small but very tasty. I think Test Kitchen is owned by the same people and a bit easier to get into.
