Yesterday we went for a lunch in this taverna and we liked everything. It's well decorated Cretan taverna with polite owner, good service and delicious meals. The atmosphere is wonderful, the fire in the fireplace makes you feel like you're at home, the tasty food, the good wine and the reasonable prices - this is what people can get in... More

We stopped by Peza and had lunch in the restaurant. It was just at the beginning of our trip and it has been one of the best meals we've had. I would recommend it to everyone. The tzatziki and stuffed aubergines were outstanding and the best about the restaurant was the kindness of the owners, they ended up offering us... More

The highlight of our European dining experience! Worth the drive from heraklion for a great feed! Staff were extremely friendly. All produce is locally sourced. If you want to get a real taste of Greek Cretan cuisine, a visit is a must!

We had two meals at Onisimos Taverne in the village of Peza, during our holiday in Crete. We had good food (especially fond of the green beans in tomato sauce and the filled wine leaves, and my husband liked the rabbit very much) and lovely wine from the family's own wine fields around Peza. The food is local, fresh and... More

I must admit that it was definitely a memorable food experience! Having cretan origins myself, i have lived in Crete with my grandparents and tasted the real homemade cretan cuisine. I can reassure you that every single plate of this beautifully decorated restaurant is remarkably tasteful, made with quality products from cretan producers. The recipes are traditional and some of... More

I've been there this summer. The taverna is nice and welcoming. But the most important thing is the quality of the food, the best food eaten in my tour all around the island! Really suggested if you are planning a tour in Crete or in the Peza area to discover the vinery!

Taverna Onisimos, located in the center of Peza just south of Heraklion, is exactly what the doctor ordered for the traveller weary of tourist traps. Warm personal attention by the owners and good, genuine food. We had an assortment of starters, stuffed peppers, fried eggplant slices, etc, all very good, followed by savoury lamb chops, all with the house wine,... More

We drove to Peza after visiting the Knossos palace. This restaurant was recommended to us by another local business owner. We are SO glad that we stopped here!! We were served by the owner who made special recommendations of what was good that day on her menu. My husband is also from the Aegean region and we have sampled his... More

This restaurant is half an hour drive from the center of Heraklion, but one should profit from the location and take a tour in the wineries and beautiful vineyards in the area. It's a traditional restaurant in a very small but pleasant village, with nice people. Food is what one should expect from Cretan cuisine. I've tasted various dishes and... More
