Decided to give this a try as its now under NEW MANAGEMENT again. We were very disappointed - opted for the roast chicken - I expected nice slices of chicken - but it was all broken little bits - like you would put in homemade soup - and not very much either, such small portion of meat. 3 roast pots... We went for a family Sunday lunch as it had reopened after being closed for a while. The food had always been fantastic. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The vegetables were all soggy and over cooked, the gravy was instant and the meat tough. The website advertised 2 courses for £10.95 but this is not the case, you have to... More

Two of us went for an evening meal. The menu is on a board and though not huge it covers most bases. The starters, mains and desserts were absolutely excellent. The place has a nice convivial feel about it and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

I knew this pub many years ago when it was top of the favourites list. We went for a family lunch there to see how it looks now, and were sadly disappointed. The range of beers is good and they are well kept, so that's a positive. The décor could do with a shove into the 21st century, and the... More

This pub has recently re-opened (again), with new owners. My husband and I tried it at lunchtime today as we live in the village and so want it to be a successful and popular venue. We were pleased to see meals are being served again, however were very disappointed to find a poor and unimaginative choice. Main courses included egg,... More

This pub/restaurant could be a gold mine. It is well situated just off the main road and surrounded by fields and flanked by a church. The portion sizes were huge and there was a roaring log fire on the day we visited. However....your hands stuck to the table if you left them there for too long which vetoed any finger... More

A pub/restaurant that has a lot going for it...good location, attractive centuries old building and a past reputation for well-prepared food and a good range of drinks. Unfortunately management problems have resulted in a prolonged closure and, although it's now open again, it has lost it's way! It really does need a make-over...the same greasy looking chairs and benches have... More

We booked for Christmas lunch at 1 pm but turned up early and from the moment we arrived, Kerry treated us to a first class welcome. The fire was roaring in this beautiful quaint pub, the pints were poured and we were shown to our table. Our starters arrived and oh my word they were absolutely scrummy (see pics). We... More

Whoever wrote the other reviews I wonder if we are talking about the same place. Tonight we turned up to no Xmas menu, limited choices if poorly prepared food!!!! The chef is very young so clearly inexperienced!! AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

This is a great place to go for lunch when you want a good gossip with your girlfriends. The food was excellent and the atmosphere just perfect. You felt looked after without being hassled. I shall definitely be returning with my husband who will love the MAN sized portions!!
