Truely good produce

We went here for an afternoon snack that turned in to a full meal. "The Old Mill" is fairly small with rustic wooden chairs and tables. The place operates as a deli and restaurant. The four of us asked for a little bit of everything. All very good and all locally produced. The food kept coming and... read more

We went here because it was at the time the number 1 rated restaurant in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. We were with a large group who ordered a large variety of food for all to share. We tried about 10 plus different items, and I enjoyed maybe 2 of them... I spent 4.5 weeks in Italy and ate a lot of... More

Andrea's Vecchio Mulino manages to accomplish the impossible in that it improves every single time we visit. During our annual pilgramage in early October we were treated to yet another power pranzo that went on and on. We brought German relatives and American friends with us and all of them exclaimed that our boasting about Vecchio Mulino turned out to... More

We spent the evening here trying the gastronomy menu. What a treat. I would definitely recommend to anyone. Free flowing wine, super meats and a real taste of Italy. Beautiful.

Whilst visiting Lucca, we had researched places to eat, and even though this was an hours drive away, we just had to try it. We weren't disappointed. We were sat on a long table next to all the locals, and even though the server didn't speak a lot of english, we manages just fine. The food came in small courses,... More

The food was amazing, as many plates came to the table of many delicious offerings. Cheese, meat, salads, desserts. The Owner was very charming. Had a delightful time.

We were the only foreigners at lunchtime in this establishment so it was a very cool experience. This place is a purveyor of "slow food" so even for Italy it's a place to take your time. We did a coursed sitting and had "salty pie" which is kind of like quiche, italian chicken salad, some concoction of bread, olive oil... More

Wine bar with no real kitchen doing cold cuts, cheese and various tasting dishes to accompany a nice glass or two of local wine. The building is great, we went into the back room and sat surrounded by wine, and hanging proscuitto hams. Not the cheapest meal, but the choice we had, and the opportunity to sample a good selection... More

Going to this place is a treat; the best local food and wines! Best to go for lunch and ask for a mixed plate. It's not a restaurant with pizza, pasta, etc.. It's is tasting event!! Love this place. It's not cheap, but good value for money.

Andrea's demonstration of how to really enjoy the ham he carved was an entertainment in itself apart from the delicious meal we enjoyed.
