The food was amazing, as many plates came to the table of many delicious offerings. Cheese, meat, salads, desserts. The Owner was very charming. Had a delightful time.

We were the only foreigners at lunchtime in this establishment so it was a very cool experience. This place is a purveyor of "slow food" so even for Italy it's a place to take your time. We did a coursed sitting and had "salty pie" which is kind of like quiche, italian chicken salad, some concoction of bread, olive oil... More

Wine bar with no real kitchen doing cold cuts, cheese and various tasting dishes to accompany a nice glass or two of local wine. The building is great, we went into the back room and sat surrounded by wine, and hanging proscuitto hams. Not the cheapest meal, but the choice we had, and the opportunity to sample a good selection... More

Going to this place is a treat; the best local food and wines! Best to go for lunch and ask for a mixed plate. It's not a restaurant with pizza, pasta, etc.. It's is tasting event!! Love this place. It's not cheap, but good value for money.

Andrea's demonstration of how to really enjoy the ham he carved was an entertainment in itself apart from the delicious meal we enjoyed.

Andrea's little osteria in Castelnuovo is a fantastic place for lunch. I have been there several times over the years and the quality of the food and the wine is excellent. Especially his dishes with Porcini are very nice, but also the selection of sausages is brilliant. This day we had the selection of everything which started with a salat... More

Our group of eight friends, scattered around the globe, met in northern Tuscany to rent a villa near Fivizzano. We visited a number of highly rated restaurants in the area, but our meal at Osteria Vecchio Mulino was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. Certainly our day in Catelnuovo di Garfagnana was the best day of our... More

We got this place recommended and it was definitely worth the trip! At first sight, the restaurant looks quite simple, but this place doesn't disappoint. The host Andrea made us feel like home, and it was such a great experience! We got a large plate of mixed cheeses and cold cuts followed by a heavenly union of freshly picked rasberries... More

Just had a fantastic taster menu of local , meats, cheeses and cakes served and explained at every course by affable host Andrea. Charming authentic Italian lunch with all the background on where the local produce came from A great little find on the back of a Telegraph article that recommended the train trip up the valley from Lucca. We... More
