A pleasant surprise

Having found our recommended restaurant closed, we were 'obliged' to eat here as the only one we could find open. It was indeed a grand place and our first impression was it was far to smart a place for an English couple in holiday clothes. However the maitre D made us very welcome and we opted... read more

We have been to this restaurant several times over the past years and it is always an absolute delight. Chef Jérôme Bansard's passion and love for his craft transpires in every detail. Very carefully sourced produce, always seasonal and needless to say extremely fresh, make up his dishes which are a contemporary take on classic flavour pairings. Beautifully cooked and... More

Set in an old Normandy style house in the centre of a picture book village, the gastronomy lived up to its setting. We took a degustation menu providing opportunity to taste from each other. The dishes were elegant with excellent produce. An array of amuse geule provided an overview of the chef's skill. We relied on the sommelliere's suggestions for... More

One of the best meals we've had in all of France - over the last 13 years of visiting! Le pavé d'auge is not to be missed if you appreciate relaxed fine dining along with impeccable food and service. Allow yourself 2.5 - 3 hours to truly enjoy one of their meals. We come to France for the food, and... More

A quiet group of tables on decking opposite a few shops - The lunch Menu delivered by a smartly dressed maitre d' looked simple but sophisticated - good Normandy stuff. We ordered our drinks, and the chef came to take our order in detail ................. then the fireworks began !!! Truly the best three course lunch we have had in... More

We had lunch there. Every dish was superb...creative, elegantly served, perfectly prepared. Some had fish (pollack or cod) and others beef--all outstanding. Wait staff very courteous and helpful.

Excellent cooking though not an inexpensive experience. Very smart restaurant and not best suited to children. My monkfish was a touch chewy but overall high quality food. Service could have been friendlier but perhaps the four year old didn't help. One pudding was amazing, the other just decent. Make sure you are hungry to make the most of the many... More

We had lunch at this Michelin starred restaurant with our 2 sons. The food was sublime - from appetizers through the third round of desserts. Highly recommend the appetizer with mushrooms, poached egg and truffles. The sole dish for the entree was delicious as was the John Dory with carrots. Apple tart was very good for dessert but the additional... More

We had a party of 9 for a special occasion. The cuisine, and service, were unbelievable ! We are returning this week. Make sure you have a good appetite as the meal is large and rich. Excellent experience. Must do while in Normandy.

Touring the Normandy area by car, and wanted to visit "small villages". One of the guides we used recommended a stop in the Beuvron-en-Auge town and Pave d'Auge so we made this a destination. We got there at about 1:30 and it was made clear that the restaurant was really closing, but they stayed open for us. Restaurant holds maybe... More
