Took a diversion through Frodsham as the motorway was blocked and decided to stop for dinner, choice of several pubs on the Main Street, but chose the Bears Paw as it looked the most appealing from outside. I have driven past the pub many times over the last 50 years and never been in. The building itself is almost 400... More

Jumped off train at Frodsham last night on way home from work (Chester) to meet hubby for a birthday drink or two for me, with no actual intention of eating at Bears Bar, but after a couple of drinks and seeing food coming and going, decided we would stay and eat there, it looked so nice. Glad we did, (I... More

We were going from Liverpool Airport down to Chester and it was lunchtime. the north side of Cheshire seems like a restaurant-desert. Could we find anywhere? We drove around, we walked around and eventually stumbled into Frodsham and spotted this pub. It was certainly a welcome site although not at all easy to get too. There was nothing telling us... A good place to meet up with friends before going out for the evening. Very friendly venue. Excellent staff pleasant helpful not work shy. The food is good although I have only had lunch here! It's the same menu mostly for the day. It also has a large outside eating and drinking area.. A really good car park is nearby.

All of the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Even if you order different dishes than your companions the food all arrives at the table at the same time so you don't have to wait to start eating. The car park is a bit stupid as you pay and display £1 and then get it knocked off your bill, but... More

Went to this pub early evening one Saturday and got the last table I think, so make sure you book. Staff very friendly, and service was well timed. Food is well presented, but not overly 'gastropub' style. It has a good children's menu and the portions are very generous for the prices (more seabass than you would usually get for... More

Popped in The Bear's Paw one Saturday afternoon after having a walk round Delamere Forest. Clean, friendly and welcoming. Party of 5, so got great value for money, even with desserts. Nice beer garden too. Definitely not a pub to pass
