Decent pub food

Decent pub food, huge chunky chips, although a little too expensive for what you get. Garlic bread with cheese wasn't up to much and onion rings were pretty greasy. However, staff were friendly.

Was out walking around Helsby and Frodsham hills and wanted a post-walk lunch. Knew of this pub and although we arrived at 2.15 they were still serving lunch. We had salmon and cheese and onion pie - both excellent, plus very good bread and butter pudding to finish. Loved it - we will return.

Visited Easter Monday. The restaurant was very busy but our starters came very quickly but the main course was a bit slow in coming, but when it did come the food was very good apart from my pet hate which is very thick cut chips. I do wish restaurants would realise that not everyone likes thick cut chips and offered... More

Never been the Netherton to eat and can say although it was busy and it took a while for the food to arrive it was worth it. I ate from the specials and really enjoyed my squid starter and spagetti main. My mum and dad really enjoyed their mains too. The staff are all really, really lovely and all work... More

10 years ago this was a stunning restaurant that my husband and I visited frequently. It went down hill circa 5 years ago so we stopped going. About 12months ago we saw it had changed hands so decided to give it another whirl. We were pleasantly surprised and are now frequent visitors for Sunday lunch. As a vegetarian I don't... More

Went today for a 90th birthday meal. Turkey roast dinner was very tasty with moist turkey and lovely gravy! All the other meals looked very nice too, especially the fish and chips (will try that next time!).Toffee apple crumble was so nice!! Great attentive service and very clean. Will be coming back very soon I think!!

Liking steak well done can be difficult for chefs, but my ribeye was the best I've had in the past 10 years, though I'm not sure it was a full 10oz. My wife's gammon had a large amount of fat and rind and being only lightly cooked didn't have the best taste. All other dishes had by our party that... More

Arrived, nobody was there to greet us. So we walked up to the bar, gave in our reservation name, was told to walk over to the right and someone would tell us where to go - walked over, again nobody was there so we sat at a bar table waiting for someone to walk past or come to us. Someone... More

Thank you for your detailed review. Our meet and greets are done by the first person you see - usually the bar staff, and I am sorry for the miscommunication regarding your seating. I was distracted by a baby crying as I took your drink order (i.e I couldn't hear properly as I have a hearing issue) but to be... More

We popped into this lovely pub for lunch on our way to chester for a mid week break. Service was excellent food was very nice, fish and chips and steak ciabatta washed down with a pint of mpa. Really nice pub just wish it was our local. Will be a great spot to catch some rays in the summer. Thank... More
