One of the best sunday lunches

We were staying locally at the Lady Heyes site and went to this pub/restaurant for Sunday lunch. We were a little apprehensive after ordering our food as the portion sizes looked small coming out of the kitchen. However... we were pleasantly surprised. Arrived with friends. the Travellers always used to serve good food with friendly staff. OMG STAY AWAY. Food average, poor Value. Staff poor, not friendly and management very RUDE and CONFRONTATIONAL. Need to go to anger management therapy.Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

Food started off well we ordered bread and olives to start which was nice! Unfortunately that's the only nice thing I have to say! Curry was naff, no flavour it came half and half the rice was a soggy mush hadn't been drained properly and 'hand-made chips' were limp too! Not good! Fish and chips was bad too! Tried to... More

We reached this pub at the end of a 12-hour journey from the Orkneys at 8.45 at night. It is a very cosy and warm place where the staff is professional and very polite. The food is high quality and we tried four different dishes both starters and main courses. Everything was very British style and tasty. I took the... More

The staff were absolutely lovely but the quality of the food let them down. The "king" prawns weren't exactly regal and the brased steak wasn't exactly the best I've ever tasted! The food was alright I guess but nothing to rave about or even use at small talk....

We were recommended this pub but the food is poor and the hospitality worse! Will not be going again. They told us (9 of us) that they were only licensed until 10:00 pm.....really the staff wanted an early night! Rubbish food and - except for the two young waitresses who obviously weren't trained very well but we're well meaning- unfriendly.

We recommended the Travellers and went Saturday 15th August,we were informed that it was the launch of the new menu and perhaps they were more focussed on that rather than the food. Our friend ordered the Tuna with stir fry veggies which looked good but was uncooked and cold,it was returned to the kitchen and appeared 5 minutes later probably... More

We found this restaurant by accident after visiting Delamere Forest. We have been back there 5 times now since June and every time we have gone the food has been excellent and the staff are really great. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is a little out of the way but it is well worth the visit. Due... More

We visited on Sunday 9th August at 5pm and were informed that the kitchen was closed at 4.45 for 'staff training' When I said that we checked the day before and the board outside said 'food served until 6' and that maybe they should update the board, the female staff became very rude and confrontational, saying 'why should I change... On Sunday 9th August my husband and I decided to give the Travellers Rest in Frodsham a go, although we have to travel 32 miles each way, but as it is our 36th wedding anniversary tomorrow and after reading and hearing so many good reviews. On arrival at 4:48pm we were informed due to staff training for the new menu... More
