Formerly known as The Drovers, The Gaping Gander, The Rowlands and the plain old Helter Skelter, Oswalds@Helter Skelter is a good old-fashioned pub serving real beer and real food. The first floor of this Cheshire restaurant serves a mix of traditional and contemporary cuisine, including meals such as black pudding with potato rosti, bacon and a tomato sauce, swordfish with chilli prawns, chorizo and wild rice and duck with a plum and ginger sauce, while the 'Home Comforts' section offers dishes like a cask ale pie served with chips and peas. A pub that serves good food and a good pint - It doesn't get much better than that!

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday night for the first time and weren't disappointed! The menu was excellent with lots of choice. Would recommend the Lamb and the Duck which were both cooked to perfection. You can tell the place is privately run as it's a real cut above any restaurant chains. The service was also excellent and staff... More

What a pleasant surprise this place was, we stopped here after visiting Runcorn castle, they are dog friendly, the food was very nice indeed, there are lots of real ales, it's a proper drinkers pub with a friendly atmosphere and they welcome tastecard too!

Had an absolutely fabulous meal in here tonight. Food fantastic, service excellent, will definitely be back. Would highly recommend the Belly Pork, melt-in-your-mouth meat and perfectly crunchy crackling. GORGEOUS!

The restaurant is great for a special occasion but you will not do better than the pub itself for good fresh cooked bar food whether it is a beautifully dressed salad, hearty sandwich, plated meal or home made soup there is something for everyone. There were 10 of us who arrived and ordered a range of food without booking and... More

Called after shopping in the market on an August Thursday. The pub downstairs was busy and a real drinking pub. A young bar man helpfully told us we might be more comfortable upstairs in the restaurant. Our meals were very reasonable at £10 for two portions of fish and chips. For that price they were ok but we had to... More

We missed going to Helter Skelter on Sunday last as it was booked for a function. Every time we've been the food and service are excellent and the Gluten free options good too.

The best steak and ale pie I have eaten. Proper pastry and rich gravy. Could not fault the meal. Bookcase wallpaper a bit dubious but otherwise a great spot.
