Description: Formerly known as The Drovers, The Gaping Gander, The Rowlands and the plain old Helter Skelter, Oswalds@Helter Skelter is a good old-fashioned pub serving real beer and real food. The first floor of this Cheshire restaurant serves a mix of traditional and contemporary cuisine, including meals such as black pudding with potato rosti, bacon and a tomato sauce, swordfish with chilli prawns, chorizo and wild rice and duck with a plum and ginger sauce, while the 'Home Comforts' section offers dishes like a cask ale pie served with chips and peas. A pub that serves good food and a good pint - It doesn't get much better than that!

I've lived in the area for over 25 years and can't believe I've not discovered this place sooner. A nice quiet drink at the bar with a very pleasant chatty barman. Then upstairs to the restaurant area where a tasty meal was enjoyed. Jenny our waitress was very helpful and pleasant to talk to. She advised us to try the... More

Are you local, well lets hope so! This review is only written regarding the downstairs bar and service but sadly it needs to be said. I have been visiting this pub on and off for years but recently the bar service has become very poor, unless that is if you are a regular then it's great. While you are stood... More

This restaurant continues to deliver top quality, home prepared food at a reasonable price. The menu has changed recently and we were spoilt for choice of dishes (as we were on previous menus). By far the best restaurant in the area

Yet again a fantastic meal. It is always difficult to choose as there are so many items on the menu that we fancy. This is complimented by a good wine list and of course a great selection of high quality ales. Thank you everyone, a great meal, great service, great night.

We found this restaurant through the Gourmet Society while visiting the area with friends. The reviews looked good, so we booked it 'unseen'. On arrival we all wondered, without speaking out loud, what we were in for, as the exterior did not seem very enticing. However, on entering the upstairs restaurant, we were warmly greeted into a clean, if not... More

Have been going to this pub for years, and it is fantastic and one not to be missed if you are in the area. There is always around 8 Real Ales on hand pump, a fantastic selection of foreign beers, cider, and wines - so there is definitely always something for everyone. We go there on a Saturday afternoon for... More
