Formerly known as The Drovers, The Gaping Gander, The Rowlands and the plain old Helter Skelter, Oswalds@Helter Skelter is a good old-fashioned pub serving real beer and real food. The first floor of this Cheshire restaurant serves a mix of traditional and contemporary cuisine, including meals such as black pudding with potato rosti, bacon and a tomato sauce, swordfish with chilli prawns, chorizo and wild rice and duck with a plum and ginger sauce, while the 'Home Comforts' section offers dishes like a cask ale pie served with chips and peas. A pub that serves good food and a good pint - It doesn't get much better than that!

We visited the Helter Skelter restaurant on Thursday evening, on arrival we were met at reception by a very pleasant waitress and shown to our table, where we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was very reasonably priced. Although the restaurant was quite busy it was'nt long before our orders were taken. STARTERS :- Blackpudding Dumplings & Thai Fishcakes.... More

This is without doubt a real ale drinkers pub, the dispensary in Liverpool is claimed to have the best beer in the city ,and whilst I wouldn't disagree with that the management should visit this little gem and see how it should be done. Pleasant staff , clean toilets, but the main thing is the beer 10 out of 10... More

I got a group of friends together (some of them real ale lovers) to go and sample the beer and food on offer at Helter Skelter / Oswalds. Everyone of the group 6 had a great day. We received a warm friendly welcome, staff were polite friendly service couldn't have been better. Food is wonderful with an extensive menu to... More

We visit when we are looking for somewhere a bit special but family friendly. The food is delicious and with three coeliac's in the family it is always a stress free hit! The owners have a relative who is gluten free so have a very good awareness and many of the dishes on the menu are gluten free. The children's... More

On the eve of our 40th.(Ruby) wedding anniversary we came to Oswalds with freinds and family as planned. We couldn't have been in better hands! We have been to this restaurant before and to the pub downstairs,so our expectations were for a really nice evening out to celebrate our anniversary. Thanks to Karen and Nick and their staff,it wasn't just... More

Brother has been working abroad for 8 years so we've seen little of him and his wife. They decide to visit us and also meet our kids and grandkids over this weekend. Bearing in mind they hadn't had access to good beers whilst away we had to take him to the best real ale pub for miles around. The bar... More

Once again a wet and miserable Thursday evening was brightened up by a visit to Oswald's in Frodsham. The food was as excellent as ever, the service professional and efficient and the staff on duty on the night were, as ever, cheerful, helpful, informative and friendly. Downstairs the selection of guest beers on offer was diverse and the atmosphere welcoming... More

£11.50 is not cheap for steak pie and chips but they were about the best steak pies we've eaten, the chips were classy and gravy lovely. Washed down with well kept beer. What's there not to like. Good friendly service too!

Went today for lunch with my sister. Seated very quickly and the waitress was very friendly and polite. Great choice on menu and very well priced. Food was excellent great quality and well cooked. We have already set a future date to return.
