Café by day/ Lively restaurant by night

Enjoyed tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cakes by day and returned in the evening again to sample the evening meals. We all chose Indian dishes which all tasted really nice but they have a menu to suit all tastes with a "Specials" board too. Nice selection of beers to choose from. Was extremely busy... read more

This restaurant has a real homely feel it feels a little like your in someones front room. The food was excelent, a grate voriety of both indian and italian with some English or Scotish fair thrown in. For example there was fish and chips on the menu. I had a sea food pasta dish which was amazing. The wine was... More

Best curry we've had for a long time. Who would have thought a cafe in a remote location as this would be so good. The scallop pakora were superb! The menu is a mixture of Indian and Italian and uses local produce. Highly recommended

We went as a party of twenty . We were booked in for the second sitting at 7:45 . The owner seems a really nice guy but seemed stressed . The service was really random , we weren't given menus or offered drinks we had to ask . The starters were good but the curries were excellent . Some of... More

This place is a bit of a contradiction but if you remember that it is run as a cafe that provides restaurant-quality food then you will not go wrong. There is an interesting and eclectic menu with a good range of starters and mains. We decided just to have a main course and had the spaghetti marinara which came as... More

Recently in Barra for work and had a meal here one evening to make a change from the hotel. Curry was good with a bottle of beer about £15 each as indicated in other reviews. They were in a bit of hurry to get closed up but then there were only two of us there and it was the middle... More

I liked the fact that it was open on 2nd jan!!..the only place in Castlebay! I had a chicken korma...it was actually very tasty..though more red, tomatoey in colour than cream but good...awful 'trifle' but when we mentioned it they didnt charge for it...wine was expensive..it was supposed to have been an australian Shiraz..but was Sicilian?..22 quid..and not that great.... I went on a Saturday evening. It was quiet & I was served immediately. The service was good and I had a good chat with the owner. I had a chicken bhoona which was really tasty and filling. It’s roughly £15 for a curry, rice, chapatti and beer so not bad value either.

Brilliant place to eat genuine Indian food. It is only small and you HAVE to book, but it is excellent value and really tasty. Highly recommend it.

Our experience of Cafe Kisimul was very good. During the day we had asked at the tourist board which places would be open in the evening for food, and were told it was the two hotels in town or Cafe Kisimul. We went into the cafe and after discussing the menu, times, seating etc, booked for the second sitting returning... More
