Just reopened

Visited on first day of reopening: staff working hard under difficult circumstances, but friendly and efficient. Obviously locally cooked curries, with Hebridean ingredients influence with the fish. Very tasty. A bit expensive for curry and very poor pudding options, hence not 5 stars.

After reading good reviews about this restaurant we decided to there, we were very disappointed, when we asked for water to drink, the glasses were filthy. We ordered Lasagne and a curry, the Lasagne was stodge with a very little mince in it. I did complain but the waitress was not interested. I would not recommend this restaurant, if you... More

We recently spent 2 nights on Barra as part of our Island hopping holiday and Cafe Kisimul was recommended to us, we were not disappointed. What a gem of a restaurant on a gem of an island! A wide selection of food from curries to Italian, sadly the scallop pakora had already sold out. Excellent chicken curry and lamb curry... More

Curry is about as good as anywhere and considering location very good. Book ahead for one of the two sittings on summer evenings

fantastic place to eat, right on quayside. service was a little bit haphazard but the food was amazing. we both had a seafood linguine which was the best ever the evenings get busy so best to pop in & book not just a place for a cup of tea & piece of cake

Good choice of curry dishes and excellent value, you will be very full if you finish your chosen dish, and a good choice of beverages too. It's very popular so early booking is highly recommended.

On our first day in Barra we stopped here for a cuppa and a cake, it was a lovely little place, very busy. We enjoyed the place so much we returned for a lunch on our last day. We had to sample the mixture of fish curries on the menu. They cover a great deal for vegetarians, pasta dishes and... More

I went here in may with family. I'd read other trip advisor reviews and really wanted to go The reviews were right. There are not too many places to eat in barra but the quality of food here was so good that if this was in a city with more choice it would still stand out as a place to... More

One thing we looked forward to on our 3rd visit to Barra was one of the excellent curries at Kisimul Cafe. How very, very sad that the proprietor passed away suddenly last week, mid June 2015. Obviously the establishment is closed until further notice. I think everybody on the island must feel the loss of a great character who created... More
