I liked the fact that it was open on 2nd jan!!..the only place in Castlebay! I had a chicken korma...it was actually very tasty..though more red, tomatoey in colour than cream but good...awful 'trifle' but when we mentioned it they didnt charge for it...wine was expensive..it was supposed to have been an australian Shiraz..but was Sicilian?..22 quid..and not that great.... I went on a Saturday evening. It was quiet & I was served immediately. The service was good and I had a good chat with the owner. I had a chicken bhoona which was really tasty and filling. It’s roughly £15 for a curry, rice, chapatti and beer so not bad value either.

Brilliant place to eat genuine Indian food. It is only small and you HAVE to book, but it is excellent value and really tasty. Highly recommend it.

Our experience of Cafe Kisimul was very good. During the day we had asked at the tourist board which places would be open in the evening for food, and were told it was the two hotels in town or Cafe Kisimul. We went into the cafe and after discussing the menu, times, seating etc, booked for the second sitting returning... More

Food - Ordered a lasagna well at least I thought I did, to eat it I had to use a spoon, it was more like soup, I couldn't even tell you if there was meat in it had to be binned, my dog even turned up his nose at it. Yuck! Service - Best to say awful! Got told they... More

You do have to see it and eat it to believe it. But it is indeed true - fab little indian restuarant (because that's what we had) where you may find your neighbours eating mussels or spaghetti from the italian section of the menu. You won't be blown away by first impressions. It looks like an old scout hut or... More

When I say the variety of food on offer I was worried but our group had delicious lamb curries, fresh mussels and pasta. Great stuff!

Despite my research I didn't realise this excellent little, quirky, restaurant was in Castlebay. I had an excellent curry one evening. The atmosphere in the Cafe was great and I was asked to share with two other solo travellers which actually made the occasion even more enjoyable.
