B&B and evening meal

My husband and I stayed here together with another couple. We were walking the Weardale Way for charity and booked the Inn for an overnight stay. The couple who ran this Inn could not have been more helpful. Their customer service was excellent, and they were both really friendly and... read more

My first visit to the Black Bull and it will probably be my last. Sunday lunch was a selection of poor quality meats (the turkey came in round slices) accompanied by tasteless and overcooked vegetables. Food took an age to arrive. Pudding also took forever to arrive and when it finally did, it was smashed up on the plate as... More

This is a proper village pub. A beaming welcome as we arrived and a wonderful pint of Cumberland bitter to slake our thirsts. We ate burgers with fat chips and they were very good (and big). A log fire and a couple of local characters holding forth for anyone who wanted to listen all contributed to an enjoyable lunchtime.

Has been slowly picking up since it changed hands. Now got the food sorted, good quality pub grub and the chef likes to try some new combinations - I had skewered king pawns with chilli jam last time and it was great. good real ales on tap as well. Keep it up!

After reading other reviews e just had to treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch. Now for those of a small stomach you will need to let your belt out one maybe two notches. We pre booked and asked if we could share a meal, this was not a problem to them. The staff were really helpful, the ale on tap... More

Very friendly landlord/land lady and we always feel welcomed. Food is generally good but Sunday lunches are fab! Portion sizes are generous and they don't skimp on veggies -which we love! Only small snag, sometimes service can be a little slow but that said, we love the place!

I've previously heard not good things about this pub due to the previous occupants but I thought I'd try it out as it had been taken over. It's safe to say I'm glad I did! We were welcomed straight away by a lovely lady (later found out she was the landlady when she came to talk to us) we were... More

Popped in for the first time having pasted on lots of occasions whilst motorcycling in weardale. Must say the staff and host were all so help full informing us that we could eat in any of the rooms. We opted for the lounge and all three of us had Sunday lunch which was faultless and great value for the price.... More
