We visited for a drink mid afternoon on a Wednesday. We were the only customers but the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. With 2 dogs in tow we headed straight to the beer garden where a bowl of water was provided. Unfortunately we were plagued by wasps and the garden was only an unsightly yard so we... More

We have driven through for years but this time stopped, nice pub with simple menu, in that its easy to understand, I had the belly pork on black pudding with an apple sauce, what can I say the black pudding was moist and tasty but the belly pork was sublime just caremalised enough to give flavour and the crackling was... After a poor experience the last time we were in the Black Bull, we heard it had changed hands and thought that we would give it another go. Can only say that we have no regrets about this decision. Back in the hands of a previous member of staff who understandsthe likes and dislikes of locals and tourists I can... More

Too disappointing to even assess the quality of food. Arrived just after at 12.30pm with wife and 2 children (aged 5 and 2). Few customers in and we were asked to sit in the rear dining area of the pub where no other parties were present. At 12.35pm our drinks and food order was taken. By 13.10, 3 customers came... More

Starters and main courses excellent but desserts disappointing, not the same value for money as we are used to from this place Real ale very good Need to keep an eye on the heating , as when FRONT door propped opened it gets chilly and uncomfortable when sitting eating

After reading some great reviews on trip advisor we thought we'd enjoy a well earned Sunday lunch here. What a mistake it turned out to be . On entering we asked if there was any tables for us (extended family of 12) to which we were told there wasn't any room inside but we could sit in the beer garden,which... More

We ate in the bar area & enjoyed our food. We thought that the menu would be better with a wider choice. We will definitely go again though

My wife and I ate here on one evening whilst staying in the village. We were the only people in the restaurant area to begin with. The menu is interesting plus they have very different specials on a board. I had the Breaded Brie plus dip followed by twice cooked pork belly and black pudding. My wife had the steak... More

Been to this pub on many occasions and wanted to spend our wedding anniversary there. Sign outside said they were serving food Monday nights but apparantly that is no longer the case. Night spoiled!
