Well worth a visit

Stopped on the off chance of getting some food and it turned out to be a gem of a place. The staff were very friendly and helpful, from requests we could hear at other tables nothing was too much trouble for them. The prices were pretty reasonable, I had roast beef lunch which was just shy of a... read more

We have just enjoyed one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever eaten out, also a tasty vegetarian risotto and a fish dish - all excellent , not to mention the pate and deserts!! We will certainly be going back. A friendly atmosphere with pleasant staff who do not rush you. 👍😀

My wife and I had lunch here on Valentine's day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Good food, good beer and convivial company, What could be better than that.

We are gourmands and visit frequently. If you are a senior citizen then it is excellent value. The food is better than home cooked! And no we're not bribed! Visit in winter and enjoy the fire.

Obviously a very popular pub, so I feel a bit of a grouch in not adding a 5 * review, however we all felt the menu was avarage as was the food. I had sausage and mash, and the gravey was not flavoursome nor were the sausages. Based on this I would say the food is overpriced and I would... More

We stopped here for a drink, great outdoor garden area (complete with pet rabbit) and the river burbling past. Really lovely spot, good service.

Enjoyed a lovely roast dinner. Relaxed atmosphere and able to read Sunday papers with no pressure to leave the table. Unfortunately poor beer/ale selection. Returned for a night cap but obviously local drinkers/bad language and would not return.

We came across this pub by accident last Sunday when returning from a camping trip. A group of 19 of us, we sat in the garden which has play equipment for the children and enjoyed a lazy afternoon. Good beer and a great choice of food. We all ordered different things and everyone enjoyed their meals. Staff made us feel... More

I visited the Chequers Inn last Friday to celebrate my birthday, we took my elderly parents with us. The Chequers has been totally transformed since I was last here. Under the new Management of the lovely Tracey and Martin, the whole place has been redecorated. The food was delicious, and the service was very welcoming. There was a roaring log... More

I belong to a local volunteer group and it was decided that we would have our Christmas dinner at the Chequers. There were quite a lot if us and we were given an upstairs room, there was a Pub Quiz in the main bar and it was packed. The meal was really good and the service excellent. You could not... More
