We have been here a few times recently for lunch. The food is brilliant & the wait is never that long even when busy. There is plenty of space to sit outside when its sunny & the staff are always very friendly

Taken here by friends on a visit to nearby Scotney Castle. Friendly, accommodating staff, a charming but unpretentious atmosphere and a wide ranging menu to suit all appetites. I can thoroughly recommend the steak pudding, being one of the largest and most solidly filled I've ever had in my 67 years of enthusiastic eating ! It is a 'real ale'... More

Really excellent pub for lunch. The staff are welcoming and friendly , the décor nice and atmosphere relaxed. The Sunday carvery is especially good value with great meat selection and fresh vegetables. Scotney Is close by to walk it all off! Alan & Anna S

A lovely pub in the beautiful village of Lamberhurst with lovely decor inside and nice front and rear gardens, there is ample parking too. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The menu is good but felt that there wasn't much choice, it was reasonable priced although I thought the small appetites section for children was quite pricey! Had to... More

We recently visited this pub with relatives when visiting Scotney Castle. Its been a long time since we first visited in 2010. The interior has been much improved since and now provides for a pub / restaurant with character (rustic furniture of differing styles, soft colours). The menu was interesting and varied with some twists on pub classics. We sat... More

I recently went to this pub for an evening meal with my family which included my 18 month old daughter, after being recommended by a friend of the family. The pub is beautifully decorated with both sofas and tables to sit at, and has a really lovely atmosphere. The welcome we got from the staff was very friendly, with the... More

Ordered a smoked salmon salad. The fish was grey and stunk of ammonia but the staff and kitchen refused to accept it was off. Really hopeless. I have never been back and never will!

We take complaints such as this very seriously. It would be great if you could get in touch, as we are trying to pinpoint when you visited the Brown Trout. I have spoken to all staff and chefs who were on over past 5 days who cannot recall such a complaint. We offer a fish platter on the menu, so... More

A group of around 20 of us came for a pre-arranged meal at lunchtime. Although the pub was otherwise unoccupied, it took around 25 minutes of standing at the bar before the final drinks and food order was taken. Most of the time only one person was serving. The food arrived in dribs and drabs. Some items were returned to... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I had followed this up with the staff on that day. I understand the order was fairly staggered, which made it difficult for the kitchen to send everything out at once. I'm sorry you felt you had such a negative experience. More

Lunched here after visiting Scotney Castle which is nearby. Enjoyed carrot & coriander roulade with crème fraiche filling, new potatoes and fresh vegetables. My partner opted for the chicken & leek pie which was home made. Said it was tasty. Disappointed with pudding though, the tarts were rather dry although the filling was quite nice. I had the chocolate with... More
