Plentiful pub grub

Saturday lunch whilst in the area, very friendly service, pleasant garden area, food arrived quickly and was hot, plentiful and good for a pub. Manageress checked that we were happy. Good value too

We had heard that the landlord that originally was at the Elephants Head is now at the Brown Trout, so we went to see for ourselves. Pleased to say it was the landlord from the Elephants Head, stayed for a bite to eat and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be going back there.

This Place Was Excellent. We arrived, after 2-30 which we found was finishing time, for food. The young lady Collette, was very friendly, and asked the chef, who kindly stayed later, and cooked, for the 3 of us. We had a very, very good choice of food, And when Presented it looked Beautifully cooked and was Delicious. The Staff were... More

Found this pub after a day at nearby GoApe. The staff were very friendly. The premises was clean and we were welcomed. We were a group of 8 and all ordered something different. All the food was superb and very well presented. The portion size was very good. The chips are the best Ive tasted in a long time! Could... More

We popped in for a pint to this nice country pub and ended up staying for a meal as the menu looked quite good. My wife had a burger containing lobster and crab and she thoroughly enjoyed it whilst I had the lamb shank which had plenty of new potato's and veg in a tasty gravy. Good simple food well... More

We had a fantastic lunch here about two years ago and so we returned when we visited Scotney Castle again with friends. What a disappointment. Its a nice old inn with a good atmosphere. Very attractive. The service was awful. I don't know if someone hadn't turned up for work but it took us 90 minutes to get through one... More

My wife and I took the grandchildren to Scotney Castle for the morning. They had thoroughtly enjoyed themselves. As the Brown Trout was near by, we decided to have lunch there. I had whitebait and chips, it was a good size portion. The wife had homemade Macaroni Cheese with salad which was equally nice. The three grandchildren had children portions.... More

Came here a few months ago and had a wonderful time. This time, it was only ok. It looks great since it's been renovated, but the staff weren't particularly friendly, the waitress banged our food down on the table (bad day?!) and the food itself was nothing to write home about. It was quite quiet for a Friday lunch as... More
