Lovely pub grub in the garden on a sunny evening.

We visited on a hot midweek evening. The inside was pretty quiet with most people (couples, workers, mates...so quite a spread) outside. There is a "patio" garden, but most were sitting out on the front area. You can see the road from here, but it is a fairly quiet country one. The barman was very... read more

Came here a few months ago and had a wonderful time. This time, it was only ok. It looks great since it's been renovated, but the staff weren't particularly friendly, the waitress banged our food down on the table (bad day?!) and the food itself was nothing to write home about. It was quite quiet for a Friday lunch as... More

My wife and I treated her parents, to Sunday carvery lunch. I booked via phone (recommended as it gets busy) and let them know there were 2 OAP's & 2 adults. We arrived early and were parked easily. There were plenty of spaces but we couldn't see any disabled spaces marked out. The pub is nicely furnished and has a... More

We visited the restaurant on a Sunday lunchtime. What an excellent Carvery, friendly staff and great location in the heart of Kent, conveniently located to Scotney Castle and just off the A21 south of Lamberhurst.

You can't complain at £9.95 for a Sunday Roast, however the restaurant was sooooo dark and we couldn't understand why there wasn't any decent lighting. Also the carvery is nothing fancy, as other reviewers have mentioned, but I did think they could have put on at least one more veg offering. There were only carrots and broccoli. It all felt... Can't understand some of the more mediocre reviews as eat here for the Sunday carvery on a regular basis since the new owners moved over from the Elephants Head. I'd agree that the carvery isn't anything "fancy" but is a good old fashioned home cooked Sunday roast at a really good price. We've never yet had a bad meal and... More

Myself and the two teenage daughters took 'The Dad' to the second sitting of the Sunday Father's Day Carvery. This is only the second time we have been here for a Carvery. All new roasts were brought out for the second sitting. There are not any words to explain how fabulous the meal was! My compliments to the chef and... More

New owners so thought we would try Brown Trout with friends. Three of us had the lamb cutlets which turned out to be very very tough so we left quite a bit. Did mention this to the staff but only received an offhand apology. Mentioned this when paying & again no interest in our comment. Will not be going back... More

friendly staff are happy to serve you. I didn't eat there but the food looked and smelt good. There is space to sit outside but it is on the roadside.
