Great meal in Ostia Antica

So conveniently located next to Ostia Antica. We loved this place and the food was excellent. Our only issue was the very slow service. We were the only customer in the entire restaurant. The waitress didn't get our order correctly and missed my entree order entirely. They thought my husband... read more

Boring food, really slow service. A real toruist trap outside the Ostia Antica site. Only upside was the prices, that were ok.

So we pretty much only ate here because we (family of four) had just been at the ruins of Ostia Antica all day and were starving. Big mistake. First of all, the service was terrible. We were the only people in the entire place except for two (clearly local) men who were just having coffee and STILL everything took ages... More

Right at the entrance to the ruins, and that is the only good thing about this place. I agree with a recent post, this was the only bad meal we have had in Italy. The food was either tasteless or cold. The pizza crust was like soggy cardboard and the cannelloni was burned on the top but cold in the... More

We stopped there for lunch after a visit to Ostia Antica. The place looked nice. That is the only pro of this place. We had to wait for the menu, wait for our dish and waited and waited and waited for our bill. The food was cold not lukewarm, cold. I had the chicken/veal scallop. In order to get our... More

Plain old good folks and family run the place. It's been there for a Long, Long, time. They keep their own Chickens for Eggs, and Family still keeps the place up and running. The Seafood is fresh, and Catch of the day, The Pasta is still made for the meal. The Campy aspect of the decor, is there as a... More

Not what we were looking for.... restaurant had a few good reviews but nah... did not hit the spot at all. Pasta sauce did not taste fresh at all and it was completely overcooked. This is a crime in Italy, where pasta should be always made "al dente". As soon as you put the fork on the pasta, it would... More

In the week I spent in Ostia, this was the only restaurant I visited twice. Being a fussy eater...that should tell you something! As this is a restaurant and not some lunchtime cafe bar...it is probably best appreciated on an evening. Excellent food and customer service that could not be faulted. Some menus in English....just ask!

We're not sorry we stopped here and you can't beat the location for a place to take a load off before or after a long walk through the ruins. The pricing was reasonable and it was interesting to see the staff dressed as gladiators and the menu on a scroll. I had the chicken piccata and rigatoni in meat sauce... More
