Perfect scenery, good atmosphere, nice service but average food for too much money. There are other locations in town to taste the better samples of the unique cuisine of Mardin for convenient prices. Same for the wine - this is not the place the taste the best samples of the Syrian Orthodox winery.

Established by a woman entrepreneur, this place has been a promoter of regional cuisine in Istanbul. Big plate of starters served in spoons serves the eye as well as the palate. Yogurt with spices, olive oil, dish made of sun-dried tomato were my favorites. Icli kofte (boiled) is the best I ever had at a restaurant. Harire is a local... More

This restaurant is something else. Go for lunch and you will have a view all the way to Syria. I admit with a little imagination because there was a terrible sand storm in the region. The ritual of serving the real Mardin food is worth a documentary. The whole kitchen staff is consisted from local ladies and judging from their... More

This is an old "konak", (old house), renovated and made a restaurant. They offer local food. I was disappointed as we got a set menu that was not that good and they informed us later that the wine was extra, it should be said while serving.

Being there since the opening at 2001 Cercis was and is the best restaurant at Mardin. Don't even look to menu and leave everything staff only order Mahlep wine. Believe me you'll be happy! Though a bit expensive than other street restaurants of Mardin, its quality is always top.

Loved this place. Our table was outside on the roof, with great views of mardin at night, and the food was amazing. The "meze" platter was from heaven. Staff was very nice and friendly and provided great service. Highly recommanded

We went to this restaurant because it was recommend by Lonely Planet. It was a big mistake. This restaurant does not cater to tourists at all. - No English menu. There is only a Turkish menu with very poor pictures to illustrate the food. - Staff speaks next to no English. So basically, ordering food becomes an interesting guessing game.... More

– Allowed smoking indoors – Not kid friendly – crowded on a Friday night, so get there before the dinner seating to get the better service – Waiter spoke Arabic and Turkish, but the manager spoke English well and he helped us. All waitstaff was friendly and accommodating despite language barriers. - Meza platter was about 50/50 on good taste... More

Had dinner on a Monday night. Service was ok until a big tour bus of people arrived, then you couldnt find a waiter. Foodwise: the pomegranate salad is ok but nothing out of the ordinary. Then we had the oliveoiled eggplant, onion and grapevine dolmas; they were terrible. The rice for the stuffing was still raw, it tasted too much... More

We enjoyed our lunch here so much as a small group we returned the next day. The location is authentic and stunning - views way into distance over the plains below Mardin if you can grab a window seat - they'll pull down blinds as much as needed to screen the sun as necessary. Great choice of foods with well... More
