Not Quite up to standard

Ate here mid week on a cold evening. The fire was lit but looked like it had been left to die out at 7.30pm. Had a pie - pork, Apple and Stilton. Strange combination and it didn't work. Pork too chewy. No hint of Apple and the cheese was far too runny. Presentation was poor - served in the dish... read more

Dreary sunday lunch which took an age to arrive. Over cooked and dry beef, inedibly hard and fibrous parsnips, yorkshire puds tainted by burnt taste (of overheated or overused cooking oil?). Other meals slightly better but still not great (Pork Loin on black pudding mash, for example, looked unappealing but tasted ok). Saltaire blonde was lovely, Black Sheep bitter a... More

Unfortunately the weather caught out the catering out the day we visited. It was a lively day and they thought everyone would want sandwiches. This was not the case! Most were wanting Sunday lunch. Consequently they ran out of some things and the wait was exceeding long. The food was nice -when it arrived but the veg tended to be... More

We visited 3 weeks ago and got 2 sandwiches with sides - delicious! As creatures of habit we have just visited again and ordered the exact same food. The sausage sandwich last time was filled with 3 hot sausages, this time 2 lukewarm sausages - chunky chips nice as before. Last time the chicken sandwich came full to bursting of... More

Decided to take the soon to be wifey here for a valentines meal we were welcomed so warmly by the staff who set up a lovely little candle lit table overlooking the open fire. We chose the special menu and we were certainly not disappointed. The food was the best we have had in a very long time cooked to... More

Went here with family for Sunday lunch, first off the table wasn't ready and we were told there had been a mixup and would we mind dining in the pub rather than the dining room, no problem we said and eventually sat down half an hour later. Ordered the meals 7 of us in total and we received our starters... More

I'm not someone who piles on mountains of food but the Sunday Lunch portion we received was ridiculously small. Our little girl of 9 was still very hungry afterward. The portion included, 2 roast potatoes, 1 small Yorkshire pud, 2 slices of beef and a smallish bowl of veg to share between 3. What was there tasted pretty good but... More

Its not often the we can get together for an evening meal out due to all different work hours. Tonight we decided to try the Old Glen House. We are so glad we did from the minute you walked through the door the friendly greeting by staff is second to none. Nothing was to much trouble. You can either eat... More
