Lovely setting in dining room and staff welcoming. Some of the waitresses could be a bit more knowledgeable / suggesting on say "catch of the day" Food generally good, albeit maybe lighter batter on the fish and chips and a bit less cream with the mussels. Seafood platter and Pan Fired Sea Bass best choices. Wine list good and reasonable... More

Thank you for your review and your feedback which is appreciated. I have noted your comments which are obviously purely your own personal observations and choices and I am very pleased you enjoyed our Seafood Platter and Seabass dishes. Regarding Edinburgh Gin I am sure you can buy it a reasonable price at home in Edinburgh, however for us it... More

We came across The Pierhouse as we were exploring this beautiful part of the world and were delighted to find that we could eat a light lunch on a sunny terrace overlooking the loch. We ordered drinks and two bowls of Cullen skink at the bar and settled down to wait. We waited for over 10 minutes for our drinks... More

Ouch...! Hands up I apologise it was my fault. Don't blame my staff please. We had one new and another fairly new member of staff on duty who I was personally supervising at the time when the restaurant was quiet just before you arrived. Unfortunately I got called away for a short while on another matter and although it was... More

We spent the night on our yacht on one of the Pierhouse moorings which are wonderfully located and extremely useful. We'd been recommended the Pierhouse as a great restaurant by some friends so decided to try it on the first night of our holiday. Maybe it was because it was a Bank Holiday Saturday, and restaurant was decidedly busy, that... More

I am extremely sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us as much you had hoped and that we gave you an impression that no-one knew what was going on. However, I can assure you that we would have done even if it was extremely busy as we are well-versed in coping with large numbers of people. That aside... More

Visited Port Appin and had a coastal walk but were too late for lunch (it was very late) so the waitress suggested the home made scones and jam with clotted cream instead. They were delicious and came with a large pot of very good tea. We sat outdoors to eat, watching the sea, the little ferry and the changing weather... More

This was our second visit to the Pierhouse and we have never been disappointed. This time we were greeted by the owner who was friendly and welcoming. He offered us a comfy seat by the fire and a drink before dinner. We ordered from here whilst enjoying a lovely gin and tonic. When our starters were ready, we were shown... More

Thank you very much for your really complimentary review. It is always nice to know that ones efforts are appreciated although it is very much a 'team effort' and not just mine. I am purely the conductor of the orchestra! We are delighted you enjoyed your dinner and look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes Nick More

The long drive down from the main road is well worth it. Wonderful views and a great location overlooking the Loch and Lismore were the reward. We called in for a bar meal, having fish and chips - very fresh fish and a good sized portion. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was quite full and there... More

We visited twice over the space of a week it was that good, my wife and I both had the Muscles and the Fish Pie as we had tasted each others on the previous occasion. It is one of my wife's favourites and she referred to it as one of if not the best she had had. The bar menu... More

We will always endeavour to satisfy the dietary requirements of all our guests and I am extremely pleased our chef was able to produce a dish to your personal satisfaction. I first went to the Pierhouse in the late 80s when I was searching for the best vantage point for Castle Stalker viewing. It appeared like a Brigadoonish vision from out of nowhere at the end of a very long road, a white-washed cottage of sheer perfection on the banks of Loch Linnhe. Charmed, I went in, and have been...
