Excellent Fish

The Food is not fancy but the fish is cooked expertly. The Salmon and Plaice on the bone both perfect. The trout pate was quite pleasant, the only criticism - the Crab cakes tasted more like mashed potato and I've had much better chips. It was still worth the long drive to eat here.

Stayed for 2 nights at the Pierhouse. The seafood was excellent and what a view from the restaurant. The staff were faultlesss and very attentive. One little gripe, the menu should not have been the same for consecutive nights when paying top dollar. The sea view room was fantastic.

Thank you for your review which was much appreciated. Whilst I am extremely pleased you enjoyed our "Beautiful seafood", I would like to respond to your comment about the menu staying the same for consecutive nights by clarifying that it is an 'a la carte' menu and therefore has plenty of different dishes from which to choose. I also wish... More

We went here for a drink after completing a boat tour and stayed for a late afternoon plate of local mussels which were fantastic and some of the best we've had. The staff were very friendly and the location is simply stunning next the water. Based on our experience we would highly recommend this restaurant.

We have just enjoyed two fabulous nights at this lovely hotel. We stayed in a room overlooking the loch which was perfect. The beds are fantastically comfortable with everything you need to make your stay great. Absolutely loved it would definitely recommend to others and will hopefully return one day.

Went ashore from moorings, had a lovely light lunch chosen from range on menu. The Cullen Skink was delicious as was the smoked salmon sandwich. Staff pleasant and attentive but not intrusive.

Wow!! Why do Tripadvisor only give you 1 to 5 stars to choose from?? Can't I give 6 stars?! We've eaten from both the bar and the restaurant menus and are totally impressed! The Pierhouse Platter is amazing and the lobster is out of this world! Perfect service and perfect ambience! Great choice of whiskey and where better to sit... More

My husband decided we must check out Oban while we were in Scotland. It's a three hour drive from where we were staying so he looked for a highly rated seafood place along the route and that's how we found Pierhouse. Best decision in a long time! The food was delicious. The service was awesome (I.e. they don't rush you... More

The setting is idyllic, looking across to Lismore with the ferry pier in the foreground. The busy Restaurant is busy for a very good reason - it serves high quality, good value food. Whether you choose from local seafood or meat the food is delicious. The serving staff were very helpful and friendly in explaining the details of some of... More

Ah, yes, The Platters. We have an anonymous Land Rover salesman in Glasgow, who spoke from only one side of his mouth, to thank for this recommendation. Being stupid southern city folk, we assumed we could drive 125 miles on the M8, straight to Oban and then get back in time for lights-out at Hotel Ells Bells in Edinburgh, but... More

Dear Mr Ireland. Your review has to go down in the annals of history as the funniest and most enjoyable Tripadvisor review I have ever read! - and I have read quite a few. I hope your obvious literary skills are utilised well in another sphere of life away from visiting restaurants and hotels, because if you were an author... More
