Wow!! Why do Tripadvisor only give you 1 to 5 stars to choose from?? Can't I give 6 stars?! We've eaten from both the bar and the restaurant menus and are totally impressed! The Pierhouse Platter is amazing and the lobster is out of this world! Perfect service and perfect ambience! Great choice of whiskey and where better to sit... More

My husband decided we must check out Oban while we were in Scotland. It's a three hour drive from where we were staying so he looked for a highly rated seafood place along the route and that's how we found Pierhouse. Best decision in a long time! The food was delicious. The service was awesome (I.e. they don't rush you... More

Thank you very much for your very nice review. We are extremely grateful that you drove 3 hours to get here and that you were pleased with your decision! Serving the best seafood is indeed our speciality and I am delighted you enjoyed it - even a double portion of mussels! Until the next time you hopefully visit us again... More

The setting is idyllic, looking across to Lismore with the ferry pier in the foreground. The busy Restaurant is busy for a very good reason - it serves high quality, good value food. Whether you choose from local seafood or meat the food is delicious. The serving staff were very helpful and friendly in explaining the details of some of... More

Thanks for your really good review and we are extremely pleased you enjoyed your visit. The staff endeavour to explain as much as possible about the dishes and I am very glad to hear this was appreciated. We will look forward to your return visit when hopefully you will stay over with us. Best wishes Nick More

Ah, yes, The Platters. We have an anonymous Land Rover salesman in Glasgow, who spoke from only one side of his mouth, to thank for this recommendation. Being stupid southern city folk, we assumed we could drive 125 miles on the M8, straight to Oban and then get back in time for lights-out at Hotel Ells Bells in Edinburgh, but... More

Dear Mr Ireland. Your review has to go down in the annals of history as the funniest and most enjoyable Tripadvisor review I have ever read! - and I have read quite a few. I hope your obvious literary skills are utilised well in another sphere of life away from visiting restaurants and hotels, because if you were an author... More

This is a fantastic little restaurant and hotel. Food is phenomenal, Service is exceptional, and hotel is lovely. There is nothing better to do done sit at Pierhouse restaurant, have the best seafood and wine and enjoy the view. The view is out of this world. Thank you to all the Pierhouse staff for the great experience.

Go to the Pierhouse Hotel, order the seafood platter and a bottle of chilled white wine: you are now well on the way to one of the best dining experiences in Scotland, bar none. On a sunny summer's evening, looking out to Lismore Island - I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be.

It was a wet and inhospitable day and we chose to spend part of the afternoon at The Pierhouse. Service was relaxed and friendly, the views were stunning and we decided to stay on for an evening meal. We ordered scampi and chips just before the restaurant opened at 6.00 pm and our friendly hostess placed our order in the... More

From time to time a genuine mistake happens and I am extremely sorry that it was you on the receiving end. Unfortunately we had a computer glitch just before evening service and your food order disappeared into the ether and was lost. This also coincided with a shift change at 6pm and we were caught off-guard not realising there was... More

We went based on rave reviews on TA and , despite this being at the very end of a fairly small road, were not disappointed with the quality of food or service. If you are just a couple, or even alone, do keep in mind the new drink-drive regulation in Scotland; one drink is one too many and as the... More

Many thanks for your review but perhaps I might suggest an overnight stay to avoid the drink/drive situation and most importantly so that we can show you that our choices are not limited. I am left wondering whether you actually saw both the restaurant and the bar menu and not just the bar menu. If so this might be an... More

We called in here on the first day of our holiday last week to book a table for an evening during our stay. We were looking forward to dining here based on other trip advisor reviews. However, we were advised that they did not take bookings and that we would simply have to turn up and take our chances that... More

Sir. Advance bookings for the restaurant are certainly taken and preferred, so I apologise if this was not communicated clearly to you. We do not however, as a rule take bookings for the bar simply because it is nearly always at this time of the year pretty much jam-packed both at lunch time and dinner and it becomes completely impractical...
