Love Gwen

Gwen is a larger than life personality and meeting her was the best part of eating here. The food was good but pretty high priced for what it is. We had BBQ ribs and chicken. Not sorry we ate there but there are less expensive BBQ a little bit down the beach from there.

The band that plays on Sunday is awesome. They do some covers of non reggae songs which I wish they didn't but I guess some people like that. I'll for sure be going back often tho!

Well, can we just say this was a highlight of our trip? I felt like we were living inside a postcard with the amazing water views and the perfect hammocks. Not to mention the wonderful lunch and afternoon drinks we had. The bbq sauce was amazing and we took some back home with us. Do not miss this spot!!!

Spend a Sunday afternoon at Gwen's. Get a Rum Punch, kick back and listen to The Scratch Band! Which is head by Tap, Gwen's husband. Food is simple but good. Gwen has survived a fire and with help, rebuilt. Then she lost almost all her beach. So she had the whole building taken down and rebuilt down the road on... More

Tucked away from the "madness" (and by madness I mean lovely set of beach bars in close proximity to each other) at Shoal Bay, Gwen's is a little slice Anguillian heaven. It's small wooden shack/restaurant/bar that looks over breaking waves and diving pelicans. You can usually smell the BBQ from a few miles away, and if the live reggae is... More

This Shoal Bay bar and restaurant has a fabulous location on the beach but the food leaves much to be desired. And it's outrageously priced. Enjoy a beer and the music on Sunday, but eat elsewhere. Just down the beach is the Madeariman restaurant, a much better choice for dining.

You know those screen-savers you look at the whole year with such a perfect beach that you think it's probably a CGI image? Well, if you go to Gwen's, you can look at it in real life holding a Pina Colada or a Fruit Punch. Not bad, huh? The food is not the best, but it's good and the view... More

Gwen's is a nice beach bar and lunch Restuarant. They have live music on Sunday. You can get chairs and an umbrella as well and spend the day on the beautiful beach out front. They have no electricity so cash only. They bring food and drinks on ice and close around 5. They are very friendly.

Not much happening here. We've only heard about how great the last location was but this new location doesn't have much going on. We were looking forward to hammocks and there none. We were looking forward to live music on Sunday but there was none (the band was there and set up but I think they were too busy smoking... More

My wife and I visited Gwen’s during our recent trip to Anguilla. Gwen’s old location, which we visited during our last trip (see my previous review) finally succumbed to erosion, so she moved to a new location at the other (west) end of Shoal Bay East. We wanted to spend an afternoon on Shoal Bay East, so we decided to... More
