We enjoyed lunch here distinguished by attentive service at a slow pace suited to Sunday lunches! Meat dishes and accompanying vegetables from the garden were outstanding as were the cheeses with corresponding quinces/accompaniments. It is hard not to enjoy dining in such gracious surroundings and with such gracious staff. The three course lunch was very good value.

We went for afternoon tea at Samuel's which turned into a wonderful 2 and bit hours in exquisite surroundings. The afternoon tea was heavenly. Lovely sandwiches , cakes and scones with wonderful Earl Grey tea, staff were attentive and helpful. Once tea was done we walked round the grounds of Swinton and was great! There is a river, a walled... More

The food is not cheap at £55 per person per meal but as a special treat well worth it. Food is innovative and my wife and daughter's fish and their desserts were excellent. Yorkshire quail and rump of lamb were also top notch, as was my chocolate dessert. Nouvelle cuisine I suppose but beautifully cooked, presented, and served. Excellent wine... More

Brilliant! The food is to die for. The only suggestion we can make is a slightly larger mains or some additional side dishes. The main just was not quite enough to feed a "growing man" lol

Went to celebrate a friend's birthday and was very disappointed with the evening meal. a 3 course meal costing£55 you expect something special. The starter was tasteless. The main course was very small and was not accompanied by any vegetables or potato. When asked about vegetables we were told we didn't order any. Our response was that we hadn't been... More

This is not to be missed. It is fine dining at its best in elegant, stately surroundings. The service was discreet but extremely efficient and friendly. The menu choice offered variety and interest. The duck and foie gras with gingerbread and rhubarb accompaniments was a fusion of flavours, a real treat. The presentation of all dishes was a work of... More

It's hard to find the right words to describe our experience. We were welcomed with a drink in the Morning Room, where the furnishings and decor were superb. We had lunch in the restaurant and the service and food were excellent, the views from the restaurant were magnificent and the dining room was beautiful. We completed our visit with a... More

Had lunch twice here in October 2013, the food is great but a little on the small side. However we did thoroughly enjoy it and would go back again. Nice to be able to take coffee after the meal in the drawing room next to the fire reading the paper. This is my favourite bit.
