Great Value, Meals & Atmosphere

We were given a warm welcome by the landlord and all the staff. Plenty of choice on the menu but we opted for Sunday roasts and thoroughly enjoyed tender, well cooked meats and vegetables. We have eaten here on numerous occasions in the evening and meals have been faultless so when we had visitors from Australia we thought would take them there for Sunday lunch very disappointing we all had the beef but unfortunately it was far to chewy and we all had to leave it potatoes in skins and like bullets. Would not... More

My parents are frequent visitors of The Hall. Locals will incorrectly pronounce it in 'Gwel-ogg' when its actually pronounced 'Gwe-Hel-og', a small village just outside the market town of Usk. The food is very tasty here and the service is generally sound. You can get a good pint of Real Ale. The manager is also a professional individual who does... More

We booked at the last minutes on Saturday night and were told there was only a table available in the bar. That was fine. I suppose the downside was that loud locals were in there plus two children under three years. However peace reigned once they had left and we had an excellent meal each, two courses. Lots of it,... Visited midweek with my wife. Have always liked the food here which is of a high standard but very expensive for a pub meal. Had to wait a considerably long time to get served and between courses, as apparently they were short staffed and a chef down. Was a little disappointing in this respect, but overall the food was of... More

Booked a table for lunch and we were delightfully surprised. We both chose off the daytime menu (2courses for £10.95) and were well impressed. My partner had the whitebait, I had the fish cakes. I saw the portions sizes and wondered how on earth I'd fit main course in too. We both had the Lamb for main, it was delicious.... More

Probably the best steak I've ever tasted. Friendly atmosphere, great food and reasonably priced. Despite the pub being full there was attention to detail and food came piping hot.

Absolutely delicious food, well presented and very reasonable for the quality. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The pork with apple and leek sauce was to die for, I have also had the steak pudding, delicious.
